Pros - uber clean bathrooms (which were air conditioned), nice beach area roped off from the lake for the kids, all sites seemed to have a fire ring, and tons of canopy shade within the RV sites. No power issues/surging and the mosquitoes weren't that bad in May either. Playground was great and centrally located. Cons - no sewer at any site and the entry road is a bit steep at a couple sections - I can see some smaller tow vehicles having issues. A few of the RV slots had a decent angle on them - just be prepared or call ahead. Really enjoyed the lake - even on Memorial Day weekend, the lake wasn't that busy even though the overnight parks were full; seemed liked the ramp parking could take on 20 trucks/trailers. I believe most of the RV sites had a primitive pad too. Sites 12, 14, 17, 19, 21 are all very close to the beach side for the kids - totally walkable. Sites 31 and 33 basically back up to the lake - some folks tied their boats off and only needed a 50ft walk down the hill from their site to get to their boat.

I grew up in Texas and had never heard of this place. A fun day trip and picture taking spot. We met several locals who told us some history and an engineer confirmed that there are bald eagles there! All in all it was a great experience.

Good quite place near the dam on the Louisiana side. There are several cabins that are also close to the water. Trails, and a visitor center is also in the park.
