I've been going here for years and developed a warm relationship with Marissa Robinson. She's been able to suggest health tips and even new styles that have always blown me away. Recently, I booked her for my wedding, and I was completely comfortable and proud of a 'do that made me feel proud and beautiful. Marissa also did my makeup, as well as hair for one of my bridesmaids and my mother-in-law! I felt so beautiful, and so did they. Thank you so much.
This is an amazing salon. Since 2008, I have been a client of Marissa's and it is the best hair decision I have ever made. She has helped me constantly transform my look while always maintaining the health of my hair. Extremely sweet, personable, and helpful, Marissa is any clients dream cosmetologist. Her range and versatility is extensive and the needs and comfort of the client is always her main concern. She can do ANYTHING from simple, everyday hairstyles to extreme, creative colors and cuts. Everyone that I have recommended to her has been pleased with her service! I promise you will not regret sitting in hair chair!
I have been coming to this salon for over five years after being referred by a coworker. Marissa R. my name also happens to be Marissa helped transform my hair, which was broken and damaged from years of relaxers and sew-ins. She helped guide me through my natural hair journey with patience and compassion. I moved out of DC a few years ago and tried going to another salon and pretty immediately realized I needed to come back to Bill Lawrence! I have also had appointments with Tayo and Bill over the years and they have taken great care of me! All 3 of them are experienced , professional, educate you about your hair, and prioritize healthy hair; not just styling. The salon is quiet, neat and never overcrowded because Manny manages their appointments so well. Blowouts, Olaplex treatments, coloring, microlinks - they do it all! Just make sure to arrive a little early because parking in this area is challenging.
I wanted to share a bit of feedback on my experience with Donna on Sept 23. The services I received were a trim, deep conditioning, and blowout. My hair looked very nice when I left the salon, but I have to share that by the time I got home ad examined my hair closely, I noticed that I still have a FULL head of split ends. I asked Donna to give my hair a deep trim as I had not had it trimmed since April. I asked her several times if all the split ends were cut and she confirmed that they were. It astonishes me that a professional hair dresser could not see that another half inch needed to be cut from my hair. I can understand if I asked her not to cut too much, but I did quite the opposite -- I asked her to keep cutting until it was healthy. The difference between hair looking nice right after a visit to the salon and having a healthy mane is quite huge. And I spent my time and dollars in pursuit of a healthier head of hair. Very disappointing outcome. Secondly, I asked her to make the back shorter that the top of my hair because of the different curl patterns in my hair and eventual shrinkage when I wear it curly. Indeed she assured me that she understood what I was asking for and that it was cut as such. I have since worn it curly, and I have a mullet, exactly what I asked her to be aware of. I have to say that I was thoroughly disappointed with the quality of services I received, especially after the salon was recommended by a very good friend. I would suggest that Donna receive additional training on cutting curly hair, at the very least. My hope is that this will help you improve your customer experience going forward.
I visited the salon a few times after seeing a number of excellent reviews for the stylist Marissa. I was new to the area at the time, and really wanted to support a black salon. I am also patient, and wanted to give a young black woman a chance to earn my buisness. However, I found Marissa to be prideful, unprofessional, and lacking styling abiliy. I am convinces that these five-star reviews have to be fabricated or written by friends or family who likely share her sour disposition. Marissa didn't give my hair a good wash and does not know how to speak to customers. I booked a roller set and when I arrived, after she washed and conditioned my hair, she informed me that she does not do roller sets because "her clients dont. like. their. hair like that." No apology, and she spoke to me like she was paying me, not the other way around. Also, my rod sets, which I received on two of the visits, failed to last. For $110 bucks, I should have at least received 7 days. Also, its worth mentioning that Marissa does not respect her clients. I don't tell my age to people I do not know, and I requested that she not seperate my rod set. During my visit she proceeded to mention and attempt to get me to divulge my age AND insisted on unpacking my curls. Personal issues don''t belong in professional settings; Marissa has too much ego to properly engage clients who must establish rapport before diivulging details about themselves or their lives. Nevertheless, if you want style or class, don't book Marissa. Ladies, find a hairdresser not a hater. PS: Marissa put a photo/video of my hair on instagram without my permission, and she didn’t take it down when I told her the style didn’t even last 12 hours in DC winter weather.
One of the worst haircuts of my life, added 20 years. My hair is fine and curly, I asked for a fun, low maintenance cut that was sexy. He cut my hair high in the back and slanting forward, it's akin to a lopsided cake pop. The cut would do nicely on a twice retired docent for the Smithsonian in comfortable shoes who loves to play Mahjong every Wednesday. I am athletic, in my 40's and just started a new very busy career, I've had NO positive feedback on my hair from ANYONE, strangers or friends. Be careful what you ask for. Also, his services are truly overly inflated he charged $100 for a cut.
Bill Lawrence never fails to please. The shop is small and serene. There isn't a lot of confusion. The staff is on time and focused on their clientele. You emerge a more beautiful you. It is best to park elsewhere and ride over. Finding parking can be a test of patience
Every time I walk in here I get exactly the haircut and color that is best for me. I don’t know how Bill does it- but he nails it every time!ServicesShampoo & conditioning, Haircut, Balayage
