Sweet Donkey Coffee

Sweet Donkey is the best local coffee joint in Roanoke. Their coffee is top quality. It's always perfectly brewed and delicious. Likewise, I've had their Chai and it too is wonderful. Best of all, if you have any dairy allergies or you're vegan, they have several milk alternatives that can still make excellent lattes and they seem to know how to balance it with the different alternatives. At busy times, you may have to wait a while to get your order. I think of it more a sit and talk coffee shop. And if you are sitting and talking, they have board games you can play! Super fun idea. Finally, while they're not a restaurant, they also have some good soup and baked good options.

My husband and I were able to have a spontaneous date night here and it was great. They had a great tea selection, which we enjoyed, and an array of games to borrow. I thought seating would be an issue, but there were plenty of tables, chairs, and couches upstairs as well as on the main floor. Great spot to meet up with people or just get some work done on your own.

Sweet Donkey Coffee is one of the coolest coffee shops that I have walked in to! It's great to get Counter Culture coffee where I wouldn't expect it. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Arguably the best coffee shop in the Roanoke Valley. How do I know this? Well, for one, the coffee tastes delicious and the scones taste just like Grandma used to make (OK my grandmother never made a scone in her life but the ones here look homemade, alright?). But let's look deeper than that. Take a look at the clientele: groups of hipsters staring at their phones, senior citizens sucking down soups, and various caffeine-addled Roanokers writing pointless internet reviews when they should be working. They can't all be wrong, right? Hell, they might be, but don't take my word for it. It's hot out, get an iced coffee already.

Loved this place! The workers were nice. It is in a quiet location and has tons of space to talk with friends or study. The iced lavender latte was amazing.
