Takumi Taco

Everyone who comes to NYC always has Chelsea Market in places to visit and we did. It has many little restaurants inside. We walked around and my family wanted to eat Thai food while I tried Takumi Taco, to me it seemed special and different. It’s actually right across from the Thai restaurant my family went. I went in and sit on the counter, seems like most people ordered to go also. It’s actually a Japanese/Mexican fusion. All tacos are about $5 a piece, there are quite a few different flavored tacos. I ordered the first 2 to try, both sushi type tacos with crispy tasty shells: Japanese Curry Beef and Spicy tuna tacos. They’re both amazingly different and excellent. I ordered sake sangria to try and it’s good also. I tried the Chipotle Shrimp, it’s OK but nothing special since I don’t like tiny shrimps. I saw people eat the rice bowls which looked quite good but I was full so I didn’t try. I would come back here and try more dishes from this place if I ever visit NYC again.

What a fascinating combination of creamy salty sweetness of the shrimp with the immediate note of smoking chipotle. Ending with a nice warmth from the heat. I also had the Japanese curry beef. It had a meaty creamy pulled texture. The curry strong flavors were not over powering. It was amazing.

The food is great and the portions are reasonable. If you are at Chelsea to try different things this is a place to stop by to have a taco or something else on the menu. I will recommend the tuna taco. The staff are friendly are efficient at what they do. I didn’t get to try the drinks but they looked really and had different slushy flavors of saki. I will say it is a cool place to check out at Chelsea Market.

I was pleasantly surprised by how well Japanese and Mexican flavors go together at this amazing restaurant! Their sake sangria is so good that I want to try making it at home . Definitely check this place out if you're into unique concepts.

A really tasty twist on traditional Mexican food. The Japanese inspired menu doesn't go deep, but really makes up for the quality and taste. The price is not out of line and we spent less than originally anticipated. Japanese inspired Mexican taco. The Japanese curry beef is very interesting but the spicy tuna is a bit disappointing. Very little tuna and just a flavorless creamy sauce, yeah not spicy at all . But I really admire the idea probably need to improve on the execution.

First time I had ever been to Chelsea Market and we considered all the food options before we made our decision, and the best decision at that. They are a mix of Japanese and Mexican which means I got a spicy tuna taco and a curry beef taco! The food was AMAZING and the staff was just as great. A must try!

Nice little bar setting in Chelsea’s main market. The Japanese Curry Beef tacos are nothing short of amazing!!! A fusion of flavors I didn’t know I needed that scratched an itch I didn’t know I had! The spicy tuna tacos were great as well! The tuna was so tender, and the charred corn salad is a must!

The curry taco was good but the short rib was meh... the beef however was tender and the taco itself was assembled beautifully. If your gonna come here just to try it. Get the lychee tea and 2 curry tacos. That's all you really need..

Its brand says it is a Japanese style taco restaurant. The curry beef taco is really close to Asian peoples favor. I highly recommend people to try it. Nothing too special about the shortrib one, it taste pretty much the same as the ones I had before. Shrimp in the Shrimp taco are crispy. Guacamola on top makes it taste fresh. They have crispy cover on the taco Which is somewhat different than other tacos I tried. Overall, it is a really good restaurant. Their service is friendly too.
