It was our first time trying ramen. The food was good, but some in our party who are more experienced with ramen said it lacked authentic flavor. I tried the shrimp based ramen and it shrimp was delicious, but tough. The shrimp flavor itself was a bit to overpowering. If you order spicy, it will definitely be very spicy! The location is a bit small and parking is limited. My biggest complaint was we had a party of 5, We are generous tippers and the service was great however, they have a suggested gratuity at the bottom of the checks, As we all made sure our bill was spit properly and we're making sure the suggested tip was enough at 22 percent, the waitress took all our cards and brought the check back for signature with gratuity already added. No where does it state it is automatically added for parties of 5 or more. Also what percentage did she decide was to be added 18, 20, 22, 25? We didn't want to argue or do the math so we paid and left. We would have likely left more had it not been added. I would have given the food another chance but the added gratuity was our deciding factor not to return.
Solid spot for a quick bite. Ordered the takoyaki and two roll combo. Takoyaki was soft with a good chunk of octopus. Could have used a bit more sauce but it was pretty fair flavoring. Sushi was salmon for one roll and Escobar Avocado for the other. Fish tasted fresh. The rice had a nice texture. Overall the rolls were fairly wide and had lots of filling so plenty of food per bite. Fortunately there wasn't much people but the seating is pretty close to each other, so I imagine it can get somewhat crowded on busier nights. Decent hole in the wall sushi spot overall.
Was my first time here. Not a long wait, but parking is limited. I ordered the spicy tonkotsu with extra noodles and asked it to be extra spicy. Also, order the takoyuki, which came out very hot and fresh. I also ordered the chefs special sushi . Which the chef chooses for you. I was not disappointed. Will be going back soon.Food: 5/5
We used to compare other ramen we’ve had to this restaurant but sadly, it’s not the same quality as it used to be. Ramen was so salty, we couldn’t finish it and only took 2 bites. The chirashi bowl was just rice and sashimi; didn’t taste that fresh and was at room temperature or on the warmer side but rice wasn’t even hot to warm up the sashimi. Their bathroom was absolutely disgusting and overall cleanliness is questionable. We paid and left without eating… Service would have received a better rating if staff acknowledge that food wasn’t touched and asked if everything was OK, but they didn’t even bother.
Exclusive restaurant, make reservations in advance. Fast service, filling portions, great prices. Loved my curry ramen, not too rich and just enough spice. Will return to try appetizers!Food: 5/5

First time visit based on a co workers recommendation. Really enjoyed my lunch. Noodles were perfectly cooked and the broth was full of flavor. The meat was tender and nicely seasoned as were the fresh herbs and egg. The service was prompt and friendly. I would highly recommend you give them a try.Recommended dishesTakoyaki Octopus Ball

Amazing!!! This was truly some of the best ramen I’ve had. This spot is small and fits about 20 ppl max. Service was quick and food came out hot and ready.Food: 5/5
Compact Rice Village-area restaurant serving up affordable Japanese fare Food: The food is OK and pretty good when considering the price point and location. I’ve enjoyed their ramens, chasudon 2.0, and karaage fried chicken. I wouldn’t recommend their sushi - the seaweed is soggy and the rice doesn’t have the taste / texture of fresh sushi rice. Value: one of Tamashi’s best selling points! Food is extremely affordable with most entrees around ~$10 - $15. Service: Host and servers are friendly Location: The front parking lot is usually full but there’s plenty of street parking around short walk away. Tamashi is the best Japanese restaurant around the Rice area. Parking: There’s a small parking area in front of the restaurant but it’s usually full. There’s street parking around the restaurant a short walk away. Kid-friendliness: No dedicated kids menu but there’s is kid-friendly food fried chicken, gyoza, etc. Wheelchair accessibility: Restaurant is compact but there is a ramp for the sidewalk
