Always a favorite in Downtown Decatur. This restaurant never lets me down and is always the guest favorite. Staff is attentive and the food is amazing. My go to meal here is the drinking pork chop, twice backed potato, and the classic old fashioned. If it’s your first time try the hot rock, always a group pleaser.

I would normally give Taproot a much higher rating but all I can honestly give is a 2.0-2.5 rating after last night's dining experience. Our reservation was at 7:30 and our food did not come out until 9:00. We had a party of 8 celebrating several birthdays. Most of us ordered twice baked potatoes - they later came out to tell us they were out okay, that happens. We ordered garlic mashed potatoes instead. When our food finally came out some of us had mashed potatoes and some of us did not they ran out of those as well. Our food was barely warm the mashed potatoes were cold. I ordered the truffle filet medium-rare and it was cooked medium-well. All of our meat was overcooked except for one steak he likes his well done. The drinks were good, the cheese curds & crab dip apps were yummy, and the bread is always delicious. Taproot has a nice atmosphere. We have been many times but last night was sub par. The manager came out to apologize and some of our meals were taken off the meals we didn't eat. We will go back but it won't be for a long time. I hope whatever happened was just a bad night and they can fix it.

Taproot is amazing! Try the duck tacos. They never disappoint. A house salad with the pan seared salmon is terrific if you're on a lower budget. The hot crab bacon dip was fire ! Wheelchair accessibility: Restaurant is on the second floor but there is an elevator.

Food was very good service was really about a four and a half. While our server was good trying to get water refills was challenging. On the menu it says root vegetables but it doesn't say which root vegetables.. when our server was taking my order I had asked for a salad until I found out they had brussel sprouts which by the way were delicious, I asked them to cancel my salad but they brought it anyway and still hit me with the upcharge. It's fine I just wish he had paid a little bit more attention I would definitely go back again

Terrible experience, we had a waiter come to our table and ask us when we were going to be leaving due to the owners children wanting our table. Very unprofessional, didn’t even ask if we wanted to move tables. I will not be returning, told friends and family and we will not be coming back to this place super rude and unprofessional. Very upset over it and dissatisfied.

First time here and it was a great experience my only complaint is the smoke lounge next-door having to smell that while trying to enjoy my food was hard and had my allergies acting up other than that great placeFood: 5/5

Tap Root is located in a converted downtown building. It is on the second floor and plans across several sections. They've maintained much of the original vintage decor that is very welcoming. Great for a date night. The staff was very friendly and food was delivered fast and hot. Problems I had was that they offered a very limited menu. Food was good and I would have given them a higher score, but given the overly high prices, the portions were way too small. I had a steak and it was chewy. If the sun is up, don't let them seat you near a window. They have no blinds so we baked in the early even sun. I swear I got a tan on the back of my neck and my husband was blinded through most of the meal. Parking: Nearby parking is a challenge. The restaurant is in downtown Decatur on a narrow one-way road with limited parallel parking. All spots were taken. We had to park in a nearby public 3hr free parking, which only had a limited number of parking spots. Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant is on the second floor but there is an elevator. They have small marked ramps between each section so be careful when walking to not trip.

Great Food and top-notch Services. Absolutely great atmosphere for all ages. Will go again in the future!

Food is ALWAYS absolutely delicious, fresh, and different. Try the french onion soup, fish, filet, roasted cauliflower, lobster tacos with homemade slaw to die for, pork chop. Everything I have eaten so far has been AMAZING!!! Servers aren't the greatest. I shouldn't have to ask for a refill on a drink, I would like them to ask how everything is after a couple bites of food, and to check again towards end of meal. I am a server and those two things are top priority at my job. These have all been times where the servers were NOT busy. Will return for both lunch and dinner!! UPDATE Aug.2, 2018: Jim has been our server, he is supurb!!! He remembers what we ordered last time, keeps drinks filled, and checks at appropriate times!! We will ask for him now anytime we go! Food continues to be delicious and consistant!!!
