My experience here was EXTREMELY positive! The customer service was amazing and I was fitted for my first pair of ballet slippers. They were so kind and helped me find my size and showed me nearly 10 pairs of shoes so that I could find the perfect one! I ended up also purchasing a leotard, wrap, and leg warmers as well! Would highly recommend going and supporting this wonderful local business!!
I grew up in Central Square and love to see this business still up and running. I got my prom shoes dyed in 1993 per orders of my Grandmothers. We only shop at Teddy!! You are a staple. I will be stopping back in soon.
I've ordered twice from Teddy in the past few months. Steve was very kind and helpful. He called to let me know that an item I ordered wasn't in stock and was able to offer some alternatives. He also delivered both orders personally to my house. I would recommend Teddy Shoes to anyone in the market for dance supplies.
I went to Teddy’s to buy new salsa shoes. Steve greeted me right away and was very attentive and gracious through the whole experience. He helped me pick out the right type, brought out many options in my size, and set me up with padding to minimize the typical stretching/slipping that happens with dance shoes. There were many options to choose from, and I was able to find the perfect pair. Steve was kindly willing to negotiate on price. As far as retail service goes, you couldn’t ask for anything better. I’d highly recommend you shop at Teddy’s shoes.
You should go to Teddy Shoes because of the customer service, the selection, exclusivity and the location. All excellent! Be sure to purchase gift cards for future use. I purchased ballet shoes from Teddy Shoes late 2017. I received excellent customer service. I consulted with the owner late 2019 and was extremely pleased. This is a gem of a business in Cambridge. You can’t afford to miss out.
Steven, the owner, is incredibly attentive and helpful. During my first visit in the store, I observed him tending to multiple customers simultaneously including myself all while remembering and addressing me by name. High value put on person-to-person interaction, which is so appreciated. Not to mention the huge selection of shoes and accessories, with wide range of sizes. Much love and support to this local business.
I had the most amazing experience at Teddy's! Steve was super helpful and kind, and to top it all off I got the perfect shoes! 110% Recommend shopping here!
Tl:dr : The store has a lot of variety in shoes, but be warned of the pushy salesman. He has shoes that probably fit most people, but not me, ms. wide-but-small-feet. Instead of accepting he didn’t have the right size and letting us go, he tried to forcefully make the shoe fit and it just. Wasn’t. Going. To. Work. Don’t let him guilt you and think you can’t find anything better fit-wise for shoes somewhere else. I was trying to find a cheaper ballroom shoe that fit and the service guy there was really pushy. First it was a fairly cramped place, which was fine since it looked like they had a lot of shoe options which was great since my feet are wide. It was a bit difficult to communicate with the lady there, but she was nice nonetheless and got the shoes I requested. I tried on a bunch of shoes, asking if they had any 'wide', but she didn't seem to understand, so the guy came over to help. We tried on a couple more shoes and concluded they just weren't going to fit right. Some of the shoes they offered weren't even the right style and description I gave. Finally he left to get a pair one size up, but by then we decided we'd just leave. We were OUTSIDE the store and he called us to come back in saying he had more shoes. Again, more shoes that were not the tan 2” heel closed toe satin shoes I wanted. One was a 3” and black, and the other was a flat scrappy sandal. The 3rd was the shoe I tried before next size up. I tried it on, and it was too big, so he offered putting an insert to help, while assuring that he didn’t want to push us into anything, that it was all up to the customer. The shoe just didn’t fit right even with the insert, yet he suggested stretching it and putting more inserts to ‘make it fit’. Stretching wears shoes out quicker, and the increasing number of inserts was getting uncomfortable. It felt like regardless of the problem on how it fit, he just didn’t want us to leave without buying the shoes and being ‘happy’. He kept on offering ways to change the shoe so that it’ll ‘fit’. It seriously felt like a guilt trip. As a dancer, you want your shoes to fit with MINIMAL alternations. I understand that sometimes you may need a little something, but this guy was being way overbearing. AND as a person with wide yet small feet, I KNOW it’s possible to find the right shoe. It just isn’t necessarily ta the first store you go to. As we were leaving he said he could special order a pair of shoes, but I’d have to make a deposit first, but we were already out of the door. What was the real sticking point was when after I said no to the additional insert, he said “no shoe will fit perfectly”. This is untrue I can tell you, because the next store we went to - a different ballroom shoe store - I found a pair of shoes that truly fit and I am incredibly happy.
For the first time in seven years, we will not be buying our son's ballet clothes at Teddy's. Without the manager present on 9/5/2015, the store was a mess. One customer had everyone attention. Two sales women were hiding out in the back of the store. When asked to assist they first told me to look on the rack, when I said I couldn't find what I needed one slowly came forward to assist. I asked for ballet pants for an average size 11 going on 12 year old boy, she brought men's pants and seem unable to understand what was wanted. The girl that dumped some shoes at us didn't bother to attempt assist any further. When I found the shoe that fit and asked her for a second pair, she seemed to have no idea of where to find them. After much discussion with the woman who seemed to be in charge, she just made no further attempt to try and locate the second pair of shoes. The woman who was in charge seemed unable to read the computer screen, let alone operate it. She claimed it was frozen, but when the young woman who was supposed to be looking for our shoes, came over, she had no difficulty making the computer work. Also there was one customer who had a middle school aged daughter who had tried on who knows how many shoes of the same style, same size and by the same manufacture in an attempt to find the best fit. This customer was the center of attention and everyone else was ignored. How many shoes by the same manufacture and the same size do you have to try on before you find the pair that fits? We are sorry to leave Teddy's whom we stay with stayed with even after moving out of the area. Yesterday was a fiasco.
I had to drive to Cambridge from DC to visit my sibling however it was cold and raining in Massachusetts, after finding parking I walked to the local target in hope of getting a hat and a new shirt or hoodie the experience in that store was beyond anything anyone should ever have to experience nonetheless stumbled across this store and Steven immediately jumped in to assist when the sales associate didn’t understand what I was asking for in less than three minutes Steven had a hoodie in hand and was getting me a knitted hat, price was not bad but what made the experience was the exceptional customer service .
