I sense One creates the Kind of Experience an individual has here by the intention created walking in. I heard many complaints about the wait, but it wasn't terrible for me. I, also, wasn't in a hurry or rushed. I went in patiently expecting a wait. The service I received from Ms. Smith and co-workers was fantastic. She helped sign me in and was also the aid at the window I was called to. It was nice to see her again. She was helpful, efficient and checked with supervisors on best avenues to aid me. I am sure working here can be exhausting and the workers have to build healthy boundaries with all the circumstances and personalities they deal with. If you go in with a positive, authentic attitude; I believe the service you get reflects the attitude you share.

All of them should be fired ad replaced with caring and considerate humans. The people who work at DHS are seeds of satan spawned demons. Theyre rude, disrespectful, wicked and hateful. I dont know what their problem is but they need to get it together because all that negative attitude is uncall for. If you hate your job go and find a job that you like and maybe youll feel better about your unprofessional selves. Talking about all DHS rude workers..you know who you are.

Got here @ 6:50am. Sat in entrance until 7:30am. Went to window. Already have filled out application missed phone interview. It is 8:25am watching people that came after me get service & leave. How does this work. Get here early get seen last.

Plz call me ... my case. Lady never return my call l had fax her and nothing.l loss my mom and my mind was not on renewal right now just know l need some food plz.!!plz do what is right we need this..thnx. so much

If you're applying for the Food Stamps (i.e. SNAP benefits)and/or Families First assistance programs, the very best time to go (presuming you DON'T want to end up waiting around for hours to get called up to a window to turn in your application) is actually during the last 1-2hrs before they close & in the middle of the week (T, W or Th). I went in on a Thursday at 3:15pm and only had to wait 15-20min max to get called to turn in my app & give info to a lady at 1 of their little windows. &The waiting area was almost entirely empty. I spent another 15-20min at the window giving some additional info that wasn't on the 1-page application & waiting while the lady created an electronic file for me, entered my information, and setup a future follow-up phone appt for me to speak with a caseworker to finish my application. Total time spent there was abt 45min from the time I entered the bldg to getting back into my car to leave. In contrast, I've heard of people spending 3hours or more there if they go in the morning or the middle of the day, especially on Mondays & Fridays. They do have paper copies of the application for SNAP/FF benefits there, but you can also go online to their website & print out a copy to fill out ahead of time & bring with you, if you prefer.
