I took my car to get an inspection. The car failed, and Gil told me that it was the catalytic converter. He said he could get the part the next day for $600. I work on my own car, so I declined. I bought the part for $200 replaced it with several others that I needed. I called Gil today to get the car reinspected (15 minute job). He can't get me in before the deadline.

These guys are terrible for pre-purchase inspections. I had a '99 Saturn SL2 checked out here a few months ago. Generally when you get a pre-purchase inspection (PPI), the mechanics will test drive the car. These guys didn't. As a result, they did not catch that the car I was looking at had bad tires, bad brakes and a bad suspension. They did not catch that the spark plugs were bad too.For $30, which is how much they charged, I highly recommend you look at a different shop. Later, I had the Saturn checked out at Wayne's Auto in Providence. They did full and thorough inspection that actually included a test drive. The test drive includes town and highway driving. They caught a potential $1000-$2000 in repairs that these guys didn't. Their PPI also costed $30. Same money, far superior quality and service. I can't speak for the other services offered by this company, but steer clear of them if you're looking at a used car in the area and want these guys to check it out.
