The pad thai is so good, I’ve had it twice already. I love puff tofu. The crispy banana with ice cream was also really good. Ran out of mango sticky rice cause mangoes are out of season or something. Totally get it, I’ve bitten into an unripe mango before, and it was very much not good . The poor waitress was definitely overworked though so service was really slow. They should hire more staff.
I've ordered from Thaiphoon several times for take out but this is was my first time eating in. It was supposed to be a date but ended up being a solo dinner so i didn't think too much about how the waitress never checked in with me. She was waiting for a 2nd person to show up! After that though, she only took my order and then brought the check after i flagged her down 15minutes after I had stopped eating. The food, which i usually love was just okay. Steamed dumplings were perfect curry chicken noodles were okay compared to other times I've had it and their crab packets were so greasy i only ate one. I also tried their Thai Tiger drink, but that was too sweet. I'll know I'll order takeout from them again but dining in was lackluster, so i don't think I'll be doing that again.
June 2022, downgrading from 5 to 4 stars because the last meal I had here wasn't as good as previous visits. It really was a three-star meal, but I'll give him the benefit of a doubt here. The massaman beef just wasn't as good, and neither was the noodle dish. I'll still try to place one more time just in case. --+-++ We ordered via Uber eats. Got beef massaman, chicken drunken noodles, and chicken satays. The satays we're ok but the other two dishes were excellent. I've tried massaman in all three of the Thai restaurants that are very close to each other, and one competitor's masaman very good, but I like this one even better. Update 5/2022 went back and got chicken with eggplant, chicken satays, and pad Thai and their food is still very good. Update: 6/2022 went back for massaman curry and lad na and satays... Wasn't quite as good as my other visits but still decent. The potatoes in the curry had a weird mealy texture that they didn't before. We'll try it again.
I went to this place for the first time in Oct 2022. I was very pleased. The food was good and the price was great. Friendly service. My dining mate was particularly pleased with the spring rolls. I got the drunken noodles which were quite good. The spice levels are for the western palate so even the 3 chili pepper rating was not overpowering. The decor and furniture were also pleasing. I will definitely go back.
Had the chicken and broccoli with peanut sauce, and it was very delicious. The staff was friendly and the lunch crowd was light. It's definitely worth revisiting to try other items on the menu.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: NoTakeout: Yes
Absolutely loved the food, i didn’t even get to take a picture of it! So cute from the outside - next time I’ll dine in! Ordered pickup today at 5pm and it was ready on time and smelled amazing, got home and loved the spring rolls, they were great for sharing! The pad Thai, green curry & tofu were made of fresh ingredients & generous portions. Even the rice that came with the curry was incredibly fresh and fluffy! Can’t wait to go again and try more of their dishes : **also btw I ordered on Uber eats and there was no way to tip for pickup and Uber still collected an additional fee that wouldn’t go to the staff??!! Deff place your order with Thaiphoon directly
I usually only post good reviews, but this one had to be called out. Nothing against the staff, but we ordered our lunch for dine-in and the entire food stank, the chicken just tasted weird. After tasting 10% of everything, we politely told the staff that our food was not good and that we’re still hungry, but we have lost our appetite because of the smell. They saw all the food still sitting there but the manager didn’t accommodate or care to offer satisfaction or a fair discount. Food wasn’t authentic or worth quality, just added a lot of flavors to make you think it’s good.
I've been to Thaiphoon twice, always stops by here every time we're in the DC area. The food here is excellent, the staff are very friendly. Though I wish they have diaper changing table in the bathroom, my 1 year old son always happens to need diaper change every time we're here. The staff always accommodated us and give us private place to change his diaper. The most recent one I was here, I took my family members who are visiting us from overseas. They were very happy and satisfied with the meal.
this was not my favorite but, the spring rolls were delicious. the customer service was great as well, the bar tender was nice and caring. 3 stars just for the food. the fried rice was a bit too dry for me. Maybe add some yum yum sauce in there!
I have been here several times over many years. The food is still good and flavorful, but the service is getting worse. Appetizer plates sat on the table during the entirety of dinner even though we finished them before dinner arrived. No one got any refills, and it took so long to get the attention of our waitress that we were all ready to head to another location for more drinks. One by one everyone went to the bathroom and returned before we saw our waitress for the 3rd time of the night. First was to take the order, the second was to ask how was dinner after we finished, and then the third was to give us a check. We were at the table for almost two hours. Everyone liked the food, but no one liked the lack of service. Vegetarian options: solid vegetarian options
