While visiting Virginia Beach, and waiting for an appointment, my husband and I stopped for lunch at The Bagel Maker in Virginia Beach. What a great find! This place is overflowing with atmosphere! Being a New York City lover, I was immediately drawn to it. After walking in, I felt as if I was truly in New York City I'm a very impressionable person.... The NYC subway decor was brilliant, and the walls were covered with murals of vintage NYC street shots. I loved it and felt very comfortable. If the atmosphere wasn't enough, the food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the bagel sandwiches of our choice, with chips and beverage, and sat down to enjoy our lunch. Truly delicious -- the way I would make a bagel sandwich. They had many different bagels to choose from, and they were the typical large, chewy bagel to which one would be accustomed in NYC. And they don't skimp on the cream cheese. It was thickly spread and delicious with my ham. My husband chose the Brooklyn Club sandwich, and it was piled so high he had to take it apart to eat it! Both were equally delicious and satisfying. I love this place, and wish they had a store in Ohio near where I live. If ever we are back that way, this place will be a must. Enjoy. I know you will.
We got the Long Island Lox, a half dozen bagels and an iced coffee and everything was exceptional. The counter service was friendly, educational and welcoming. We took our items to go but the seating area looked inviting, clean and had plenty of room. The iced coffee is not on their menu board and is simple and served with sweet cream. Perfect blend of a darker roast brew balanced by the sweetness and cream. I would drive the 10 minutes just for an iced coffee and a fresh bagel.
Are you also a connoisseur of coffee and breakfast sandwiches??? If you are, this is the place for you. The best breakfast sandwiches in Virginia Beach. There are soo many flavor combinations that you can’t just visit once. I chose the BB on Broadway this morning and was simply blown away by the presentation and flavor explosion. Y’all need to try it out. They won’t disappoint.
Bagel Baker… I’m a once a week customer and noticed the attention to quality in orders have diminished. I’ll remove this review once acknowledged, but this is multiple trips I’ve been disappointed in the past 2 months. This is the second time in a row my to go order wasn’t toasted when I’ve asked for extra toasted.Food: 1/5
Sad to say this is the second bagel place I have been to that used extremely salty bacon. It was made worse by the everything bagel that tasted like a bar of salt. The bagel was cracking up as i ate it from dryness. Also this thing about a giant sloppy mess of food steaming from a microwave wave is not what I want. A basic bacon egg and cheese on a bagel us what we need. Unfortunately only town center has that.
I’ll start by saying that the overall service at the counter is always great!! I’ll also say I’m a born and raised New Yorker, so I know good bagel sammies! But at an extra $2 per additional item on your bagel, you’d think the kitchen could pay attention to the orders. I added hashbrowns on my Tribeca and got none… literally none. See pics. This happens more often than not… prob every 3-5 orders. An order or two ago they put cheese on my sons bagel… he’s HATES cheese. I get that people make mistakes but it happens more than it should. I’m not driving back to the store after I get home and everyone is sitting down to eat breakfast. Also, the bagels could be toasted more. Opened our order today and they were barely toasted. The tribeca was filled with a massive amount of grease from the sausage and bacon… like a MASSIVE amount. For $38 for 3 bagel breakfast sandwiches, I would expect better quality control. We love the place and hopefully they’ll use this review to get better. If so, we’ll be back because this place used to be the best but now it’s just ok because it’s the only place of its type in the area. We’ll give it another chance but we won’t return if they keep messing up orders and quality doesn’t improve.
I've been coming here religiously for at least 8 years now, and the quality of food and service has always been incredible. The owner is so kind and personable, I've seen him many times behind the counter putting in work and always makes it a point to get to know his customers. It's been such a pleasure watching this place go from a small shop to expanding at least 3 fold. Even with all the expansion, they never sacrificed the quality of their food. My Jersey parents give this place the northern stamp of approval as well. Whenever I go to New Jersey to visit family, I can't find a place that can beat the Bagel Bakers porkroll egg and cheese. Thank you Bagel Baker for being my old reliable!
Had an insatiable urge for a bagel sandwich, so I took a chance on this place and threw in an iced coffee for good measure. The iced coffee? Mind-blowing. I might be a bit crazy ordering it when Its 32° outside, but who cares? Zero regrets. Tried the Queens sandwich on an everything bagel, and it was a BEAST of a bagel sando. Online ordering was a breeze. Can’t wait to indulge in more of their sandwich wizardry!
Overpriced, under deliver. The bagels were dry and dense. The Reuben was an absolute joke. Never in my life. And they didn't even have a pickle. Good grief. Hard pass.Food: 2/5
What a great tasting everything bagel this AM. Can't wait to try their EGG Bengal next. I had the Times Square with premium turkey bacon egg and American cheese. A friend had the Long Island locks which is premium novolox playing cream cheese capers tomato and red onion...said it was fresh and delicious! The lunch sandwiches look awesome too. I think I'll try the Staten Island BLT: How high hardwood smoked bacon lettuce tomato and mayo...HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
