Horrendous experience. My friend and i waited about 30 minutes for a drink. We got the bartenders attention and he said he would be right with us. We then watched as he served 9 more people, some of whom had just approached the bar. I politely tried to get his attention again, to which he lost his mind! He started screaming that he was the OWNER and that if we don’t like it, we could get the f*** out! I hate to judge a place by one interaction with one person, but everyone’s vibe there was so sour from the Doorman to the DJ to the other bartenders. I wish I would have read the reviews before going here. The story of the owners bad behavior and utter racism are right here in front of our faces! Never going back here again, and i hope this place goes belly up….for the sake of our community.
TERRIBLE! TERRIBLE! THE OWNER OF THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS RACISTS!!!! As a black male or female DO NOT!! come to this place! You’ll be better off at scorpios night club. PLEASE READ OTHER REVIEWS AS THIS PLACE HAS A HISTORY OF DISRESPECT AND RACISM!! If you do end up here beware! Your night will end up targeted and humiliated. BBB will be in contact
i’m a flight attendant who was visiting charlotte for my layover and decided to go to this bar but honestly it was one of the worst bars i’ve been in. this bar is VERY racist to black queers. i went in last night and tried to get the bartender on SEVERAL occasions. when he FINALLY got to me, i tipped him very well and everything. so then came time i told him to make another drink with less malibu and more pineapple and he made it wrong the FIRST time and tried to even charge me for two drinks??? he then decided to make a whole tangent that he wasn’t going to waste a drink and whatever BUT i told him from the FIRST time to make it that way. the thing is, i’ve noticed he was more kinder to the gay WHITE men and me being a black queer women felt very offended. you’re better off at scorpios. i’ve read the owner is racist so whatever you all do, avoid this place, PLEASE. find staff that ARENT racist and WANTS to work. don’t know his name but he had a black shirt with black hair, he also had a weird voice that was shrill and aggravating. DO NOT go to this place. You’re better at scorpios!
Racist, Racist, Racist. Beware POC. Do not visit this establishment. What was supposed to be a new year’s celebration turned into an ugly night by the owner. I went out with my white partner who was initially with me as we received the first round of drinks and opened a tab. When he would go to get us a new drink he received prompt service without a problem. After a fun evening, I went over to close my tab alone and while I waited at the bar for 15 mins to close said tab and be acknowledged by the same bartender that opened my tab, I was repeatedly overlooked. He kept serving other white guests at the bar, who had arrived after me, with drinks while I kept waiting. When I finally waived at him he waived me away. Which confused me, so the next time, after waiting again, I was able to get his attention, I asked him for my tab once again. Who knew this simple and quick request would cause the same bartender that has been serving you all night to start hurling insults at you? Calling me a Queen in a derogatory way, other derogatory statements, making fun of my fem body language and finally telling me “hey get out you fa****, I don’t need to do anything you say, I’m the owner”. That was exactly what I was trying to do, get my tab and leave. Throughout our back and fourth, I kept asking for my tab, but he kept the insults coming instead. His white superiority and authority as the owner was beaming through with every insult. If you are a person of color, be careful, this place is not it. So on top of paying 20 dollars each to get in, you should expect to be verbally assaulted by the owner. The one time I went solo to the bar, as a POC, I was verbally insulted. Racism and or harassment via calling someone derogatory names is not a trend we will allow to continue. 2023 will not be about allowing this behavior to be unchecked.
Got my id taken away just cause I was accused of underage drinking. I was with my friend at the time he gots his ID back we both were sober. He said cus I blink when he flashlight in ur face like common now how do u not expect me not to close my eyes when u blind me with a flash light.
The owners are clearly racist if you haven’t figured that out already. Then they have a fat guy at the door who doesn’t know a thing. If you see him just turn around because it’ll be too much trouble to ask to get in.
This bar is ridiculous ! The owner refused to remake my drink just because I was asking for a little sweetener “u ordered for this, so drink it” and then he refused to give water for me “I’m not here to serve tap water, I’m here for drinks” I said he didn’t know how to treat well his costumers and he said “ I make my own rules, get out of the bar and ordered the guard to kick me out of the bar... not the first time I hear he is racist and xenophobic.. YOU SHOULD NEVER GO TO THIS BAR, THE OWNER IS TERRIBLE
If I could I would give 0 stars. Myself and another friend in the lgbtq+ community were visiting Charlotte for the night with a friend and came to this bar for drinks and to dance. After pulling up to the ominously dark and eerie building, we entered the empty house with no greeting. We walked upstairs to find one lone patron, and the bartender. We were greeted, ID’d and served our drinks. At this point, the bartender was personable and welcoming. I can’t explain how dead this bar was. We decided to finish our drinks and come back later in the night. Around 11:30 we came back to see if the place had livened up. We walk upstairs to the bar and are immediately given dirty looks by a different bartender serving drinks. We see our previous bartender from earlier in the night and he said “they’re good, I already checked them.” The other unwelcoming bartender then stated “I’m the owner and will ID you as many times as I want. Let me see your ID.” He only directed his rude comments towards my friend who was the only gay, black man there. Myself and our other friend are younger, white women and were never spoken to harshly, only referred to as “sweet heart” and “honey”. My friend made a joke about being ID’d and everyone laughed, except the owner who then threw his hands up and said “I can’t do this” and walked away. The previous bartender gave us a nervous look like he knew what was coming next. The owner came back and told the bartender “they need to leave” to which the bartender looked at us embarrassed and said “I’m so sorry but you need to leave.” Absolutely appalled, we left without any hesitation and were stunned at what had just occurred. Describing what happened on a Google review does not give nearly as much detail as what unfolded, but the genuine disgust and uncomfortable feeling I got from how the owner treated us, especially my friend, is comparable to kicking trash on the sidewalk. I am saddened that this is named the “best gay bar” in Charlotte and does not give our loving, welcoming community the accurate representation it deserves. The owner is a pompous racist who has no respect for anyone but himself and I will never step foot in this place again. Save yourself the anger and money and visit somewhere else. You’ll find better drinks and a more welcoming vibe than you ever will here.
RACIST owner disrespected and refused service to my friend who is a black man, but was polite and happy to help the two white women he was with. INSANE levels of unprofessionalism and hatred in this establishment.
Fat guy up front for sure doesn’t know what he doing. Very rude and disrespectful so if u see him up front just turn around don’t let this bald guy ruined ur night.
