The Beehive House

This was one of my favorite visits to salt lake. They have the house set up as it was in its prime with all of the amazing antiques. At the end of the tour they have on display the coat and cane of the prophet. Very cool. As a note, if you’re not interested in learning more about the beliefs of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, this is probably not the best place for you.

Cool house, slightly awkward tour guide. They lay the preaching on pretty thick about their religion and what the LDS represents which I guess given their reputation as missionaries is expected. We also missed a room because another group was in there and asked if we could go back since they weren't there anymore, they were quite apprehensive and you could tell they didn't want to which was odd we had to push them a little to take us. Seemed like they were not flexible and pretty strict, but again not unexpected. The tour itself was okay, aside from the preaching they kept throwing in I would have rather just looked around. I suggest asking them about some of the more controversial subjects that Brigham Young was known for if you wanna make it more interesting.

On search for the LOrd I enter into only holy places. GOD sure in this place. His felt inside. I'd bear my testimony, of all things sure. Joseph has always had my heart. I pray to know of all things made known. These are the carnal intercorse hes testified for years now. He is beloved, as I am. Please be blessed.

While in Ogden visiting relatives, our aunt took to see The Beehive House. One of our grandfathers came west with Brigham Young. The Beehive House was impressive, but I think most of the social dynamics of his spouses was lost on me. I am still not sure how it worked.

I love how the history of salt lake gets preserved and displayed. As this is a location where a former leader of the LDS church lived, I think it adds to the experience that his intellectual and spiritual descendants continue to offer the tour using the same faith promoted by Brigham Young. Great experience, and I plan on returning someday.
