Utah State Capitol Building

Our Capitol is a beautiful building with lots to see and do. The variety of art and history to see here is amazing. There are usually activities going on that makes visiting interesting. It's also a great place for photos. The grounds are large and beautifully kept. I highly recommend coming to the Capitol for field trips weather they are with school or just to take the family out for something interesting and educational.

Such a beautiful building and the grounds are amazing. You are able to walk around the interior of the building on your own as it is open during the day and into the evenings. Tours are also available hourly most days. The grounds are large and kept meticulously. There are walking paths around all the buildings. During cherry blossom season (April-ish) it's simply stunning.

My boys (ages 17 and 15) visited the Utah State Capitol as part of the Boy Scout Citizenship in the Nation merit badge. We went on a free tour that offer every hour during business hours. Our guide was an older gentleman who had given tours for many years and we were glad to have him as our guide. He explained a lot of the history about the construction of the capitol building and took us into areas that we could not see without his keys. He asked us questions about certain areas and art work and then explained more about them. My boys learned a lot and gained a greater appreciation for our state and it's history. It was well worth the trip. There is free parking all around the grounds except on the West side. And there is parking on the East side.

The Capitol is really gorgeous. Great architecture, both inside and out. Lots of marble on the inside, beautiful murals.It is free to the public to explore, take photos, or spend time with family. They offer free guided tour of the Capitol which is really informative. If you're visiting SLC, this has to be one of your primary stops.

Fantastic local landmark. It got a recent $260 million dollar renovation after the Olympic games were held in Utah the early 2000's and it shows. One of the most brilliant state capitals I have ever seen. Especially on the inside. There are daily tours for free from about 8am to 4pm and you get to see the house and Senate Chambers. Well worth the lengthy hike up the steep hill of state Street. Must see for a short or long stay in Salt Lake City
