We happened to drive by the Bike Coop while in ABQ for an airport run…and stopped because: BIKE SHOP!! I didn’t have any repair needs but enjoyed the vibe of the friendly, knowledgeable, helpful staff who answered myriad questions from a 20 year cyclist with an appalling lack of mechanical knowledge. They have plenty of fun bike gear for the new or veteran cyclist across all disciplines and I grabbed several doodads I’d nearly forgotten I needed. Bonus points, also, for the seggsy black/gold merch bags! I’ll definitely make this a regular stop when life brings me to ABQ!
Best in town. Great service and I was very happy with my tune-up. Still rolling 8 months later and all I've had to do is oil the chain and keep the tires pumped up. Gonna have a tough time finding a better shop. Update on 7/24/22 I went in yesterday to get a tube and once again I am convinced that this is the best show in town when it comes to bikes. Staff can tell you just about anything to do with bikes and accessories. Very personable and friendly. Won't be going anywhere else to get my bike fixed or tuned up.
Great customer service. I needed a new bike chain and I wasn’t sure the type I needed. Without asking, the lady went outside to look at my bike and knew exactly what I needed. The place has a great variety of things for your bike. I recommend this place.
Amanda and the rest of her staff are the best. I had a custom All City gravel bike built and they helped me work through all the details of finding components in a pandemic bike part supply shortage and get them all working together. I brought the frame to them and they were super cool about building it. No pressure sales tactics and all coolness. Really happy with the outcome and to support a local shop with so much heart and soul.
I have been to the shop before. I was very pleased with the staff. Today I showed up at 10:45 to pick up a few things and found they did not open until 11 AM. 11 AM!! I was not going to write the review but, I walked around the back to ask why and got pretty big attitude from what seem to be a manager. I am not going to return to the store and if you need to do business, I highly recommend going to any other bike shop in town. I’m sad to say that because I thought this was a good place to do business. But 11 AM is not a realistic opening hour. At least in my opinion… and static from an employee rather than explanation or apology… unfortunate!
I walked into the shop last year with the hopes of buying a bicycle. Getting into a hobby as an adult can be stressful sometimes because some places can be stuck up to new folks getting into a sport. I did not feel this way at all. Kate was so enthusiastic and attentive from the moment I walked in. Amanda, the owner, had just gotten back from riding the bike I eventually bought. The bike was affordable but that didn’t trade off the quality. They then spent time going over the bike and answering any questions I had - judgment free. I recommend this place to everyone in Albuquerque. 10/10.
Been here twice for tune up. What they do they do very well. What they haven’t done each time is actually finish and complete what you asked to be done. Just this week; I knew my chain needed replacing and asked for it to be done. Made an appointment on Monday for Thursday tune up and specifically requested the chain be replaced. They didn’t have a chain in stock to do it I’m told after being called it was done but they don’t have a chain. Course I think when I made the appointment and requested it maybe one should have been ordered sometime over the next couple days before the Thursday appointment. Last year same thing. Needed a new rear wheel. Showed up twice, each time told guy who builds wheels wasn’t there. No one could be bothered to take an order. Spent $400 for new wheel elsewhere. Customer Service is non-existent here. When I got the call, tune up done, no chain I said I’d pick one up at REI and be there in 30 minutes - told it would be installed when I got there. When I got there was told that mechanic had left for the day and it could be installed later if I left my bike till later. You either keep your commitments or you don’t.
I have never had an experience at a bike shop like I had today. Amanda is not only fantastic, she knows her s___! She took one look at me on my bike and knew right away. Long story short, I am riding pain free for the first time. Thank you to Amanda and the Bike Co-op.
Brought in my rear-motor ebike because the rear tire valve was stuck shut. The employee said, “The slime in your tire has gummed up the valve. We’ll have to take the rear wheel off to remove the tire and tube but I don’t see a motor disconnect so it’s unsafe for us to work on it.” So I took it to 505Bike where they said, “Yeah, let’s just replace the valve core, it’ll be $5. Come back in 2 hours.”
I've been going here almost 10 years off and on and always had a good experience with a variety of people working there. Down to earth and basically just always feel better about my bike after leaving, as well as good with the person I interacted with who seems to usually understand it's fun to ride bikes while keeping bike riding safe and giving me good info.
