Visually impressive, adults only hotel on a fabulous beach. Big pool with loads of sunbeds. Generously sized rooms with huge comfortable beds. Bidet in the bathroom. Bath with shower and plenty of hot water. Free use of safe in the room. Fridge and flat screen tv. Electricity outlets are 220volts and take European and U.S. plugs. Staff are friendly and helpful. They are very appreciative of any tips, toiletries and clothing you may wish to gift them. Food may fall short of your expectations. The milk was diluted, we didn't see potatoes, onions or tomatoes for most of the 2 weeks of our stay. However there was no shortage of chicken, pork or prawns.
The place is beautiful The hotel in a quite good condition But the food - extremely horrible…. Always the same,’prepared without any passion. Only pork at lunch and dinner! No fish no poultry! Other places are much better! Drinks are OK and the service staff are trying to do there best.
When traveling to Cuba, you go for the beaches and warm weather. Food expectations should be lowered as you will have a majority of rice, beans, pork and chicken. PROS: - free wifi signal was good in the lobby, room and in some areas by the pool - resort is clean and well maintained - staff are friendly, majority can speak multiple languages - Rooms are spacious and clean - Each room has dedicated AC, shower was hot on demand exception of one day. - Beach is clean with little seaweed washed up on shore. There is a wash off station right at the boardwalk for sandy feet. Beach bar close to boardwalk and includes 24H snackbar. - Orestes and the rest of the staff work very hard Tipping them well will yield good service - There is ample entertainment during the day and at night. - Resort was not overcrowded. Did not run out of things you'd expect to see. CONS: - Food -- little variety, although they do the best with what they have - Only one A La Carte restaurant with rotating menus. We were only able to be accommodated for one dinner while there. - Resort seems understaffed. Witnessed some bartenders that would work full day, then work as a server in the restaurant. Out of the control of the resort workers, but unfortunate to see. - Seems like a small section of the resort was closed off maybe not busy enough Overall, we had a great trip, but missed Canadian food at times.
As much as I would like to give a better review, I think Cuba all inclusive resorts are just not for me. I hated being stuck with the same people from start to finish. Plane, bus, hotel, the whole stay, then bus and plane again. I dislike not having control over anything and gimmicky tourist traps like the new city they built during covid for people to experience outside the resorts. Same food and same people but, just a 40$ CAD cab ride away. A good way to make you spend Canadian money for no reason. Airport accommodations are lacking. Got my vape confiscated and had to wait while they filed 20 different paper reports, because it’s apparently illegal to arrive at the hotel to and see like 5 people vaping lol, then someone was missing in the bus so we could not leave to go to the hotel. We waited for an hour before being told this person was just sitting in another bus… Staff was very friendly and helpful. Special shout out to Orestes for being such a gentleman. Our room was ok, AC was functional and shower was hot. Beach was cute and relaxing. Food was absolute trash for me, but it was expected. Survived on rice and beans for the whole stay. There was french fries one day and everyone in line for the buffet got super excited - this should give you an idea. Don’t bother with the 24h snack bar, it’s literally two pieces of bread and a slice of baloney. There’s an a carte restaurant with changing menus. The first day we went, server recommended us to not take the beef as it was bad quality - really appreciated the honesty. My appetizer was « fleur de prosciutto » which was literally a single prosciutto slice folded into a flower. I really laughed at this one. funny moment. On the way back, even though you can check in on the Sunwing app, you have to line up with 300 other people who arrived in buses, just like you. No staff whatsoever, very long waiting lines for no reason. Lots of waiting in line for things, lot of hope but many disappointments. It was my last time visiting Cuba.
It was probably a once off but as we stayed here because our flight was delayed, we arrived late in the night and staff did not have enough time to stock towels in the room and held us hostage while we explained we had no towels in our luggage and we hadnt had towels at all. We were forced to pay for material that we never used. Alas i say it could be a once off, perhaps your journey here will be better!
What can I say about Blau Varadero? Everything you come to expect from an all-inclusive is pretty much standard. The food and drink were not great but not bad either. The beach is amazing but that generally goes for all of Veradero. Staff is very friendly and attentive but I did noticed that their level of service greatly depended on whether or not you tipped take that as you will. Some staff such as life gaurds would often ask if you wanted to buy cigars on the side. This got really annoying but understandable that they would want to make something extra on the side for themselves. Regarding wifi, although free wifi is provided, its connectivity is horrible. You basically only have reliable connection by the reception area and nowhere else on the resort grounds. Pros: 1. Friendly staff 2. Daily in resort entertainment 3. A ton of resort organized activities such as archery, salsa lessons and so on 4. Beach is clean and no shortage of beach chairs 5. Free Wifi Cons: 1. Started experiencing massive bug bites on day two and onwards fleas are suspected 2. Beach bar has very limited food choice 3. Poor wifi connectivity 4. No in-pool bar Overall impression is that the beach and resort provided entertainment is Blau's saving grace. However, I will not be returning to this resort due to the massive bug bites & obvious infestation and mediocre food selection. For the amount that I paid to visit, I definately expected more.
Blau is a beautiful hotel. The gardens and attention to landscaping and decorations are remarkable. The lounge room is exquisite! The beach is stunning! No algues and sand is powder white. The food, considering the present economic situation and available ressources during this time is average. The service is excellent and staff is always available to answer your needs to the best of their capacity. We stayed for 7 days and we're satisfied. If you are expecting Michelin chef cuisine, you won't get that but we never got hungry or sick. They are short on potatoes and cheese. You can bring your own cheeseparmesan. Don't expect eating french fries or mash potatoes. 10h of very slow internet to begin with, and seems to be enough for a week stay.
The best hotel in Varadero. Staff friendly and very professional, clean hotel, comfortable rooms, amazing beach and above all, the food is the best I had in Cuba. If you know what to eat from the buffet and what notRooms: 5/5
I have been with my family dozens of times to Cuba we love the culture and appreciate the ppl very much. Unfortunately the Last 2 times our experience has been terrible, we know we are not going to eat great food in Cuba …never has been amazing but lately it has been sooo bad. No beef or chicken only pork …and it was raw most of the time, the coffee that we always loved is sad … No milk …line up to try to eat something fresh…no fruit or fresh vegetables …. tired and overworked underpaid staff that has to do what it takes to feed their families so hiding the better food to sell for tips to their friends , and many they just didn’t care anymore …. Wifi didn’t work , a la carte were promised and “not available “ only for a handful … Outside the hotel ppl are Desperate and loosing their sense of right and wrong cabs charging whatever they want …10 bucks for a bottle of water at the airport …the money exchange continues to be a joke and nobody seems to agree on a rate … again we felt abused all the time Just can’t keep on going to Cuba. And the Blau hotel in varadero was just the last drop … With so many options to travel south we are just not coming back at all
Great hotel located at the northern coast of Cuba with the best beach of the country. Very very kind service and a vast amount of foods and drinks to choose from. I would always recommend it!Rooms: 4/5
