The Duplex Piano Bar and Cabaret Theater

The food is ok but there are some hit dishes, like the Catalan toast and humus. But you come for the atmosphere and the wine. It's a fun place, loud at times, but feels like a community spot with basic eats. They also have gluten free pizza which is a plus. We went for a friends performance and it was packed!

This is my favorite bar on the PLANET! Everyone could sing so well. Showtunes were playing all night. In this small room full of men singing their hearts out to Les Miserables, I definitely cried. I’m pretty sure I cried to a Rent song too. I would return to NYC just to go to this bar!

Whenever Bret is playing, you have to GO! He's amazing! Hilarious sense of humor and the bar staff are incredible singers. Best nights have been spent here

Last night I was at the Duplex with a friend honoring the 1st year passing of a good friend, who often frequented your establishment. I purchased one drink and a bottle of water upstairs and then moved downstairs. When I walked into the downstairs area, I smiled at the short blonde female server and sat down. Once I sat down, that same female server then rudely expressed to my friend that she would not serve me because I "seemed drunk." I overheard what the server, confronted her and explained that I was not “drunk and found it incredibly presumptions for her to treat me that way." I put my newly purchased drink down in front of her and left. Honestly, it’s 12 hours later and I am still upset about the way I was treated. Never in my life has anyone refused to let me sit at a table or serve me a drink. I’m a professional with a child and was in NYC for a sad reason. I won’t be back and will never forget this experience.

Great late night chilling with friends. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Good time and unpretentious!!
