The only reason that I am not giving it a 5 is because I was not inside of it. It is located on a quiet street in quiet area of the city. I was happy enough just to see it from the outside which was enough to get a good sense of the historical significance of this place. It all looked very PRIDE from the posters in the window and the little flags around it. I just really wanted to see where it all began. It is an important place for so many reasons.

First time into the Inn and what a wonderful time warp into history! It's a darkened room with a great atmosphere with reasonable priced drinks. I went up to the room upstairs to watch my friend perform his music and comedy and paid $5 which was fine.. but the barman upstairs came up to me and my friend and said it's a minmum of two drinks upstairs? I didn't buy another 2 drinks but thought that was pretty stupid.

Very welcoming! We had a great evening enjoying drinks in this historic little spot. Both bartenders were really nice. Lots of fun!

Stonewall: Come for the history, don't stay for the bar. Having come to Stonewall for a friends birthday, I had known about its place in the history of the fight for gay rights, but not the raucous bar and club it had become in the present day.
Showing up on a Saturday night at around 9, I had figured the bar would be decently busy, but to my surprise, I found myself jam packed in with what seemed like half of Manhattan. Managing to squeeze my way to the bar, I ordered a rum and coke, which seemed to be mainly ice, with a pour of Coke and a spritz of rum, all served in a tiny glass. After working my way upstairs into the main dance floor section, where it seemed like the other half of Manhattan was packed into a smaller room, I met up with some friends and tried to have a good time dancing. However, given the packed crowds, every few seconds was interrupted with an elbow or bump to the side. As the night went on, and more people kept pushing in, we finally conceded to the space limitations and called it a night.
Even though Stonewall was a seminal part of the Gay rights fight (and has a national monument park outside honoring that fight), there are better bars in the neighborhood that you can drink and dance at.

Now 70 years old, I danced the Stonewall and was there for many raids leading up to the riot. I remember how brutal and intimidating the cops were. We had no refrigeration - no beer. No running water just an ice water bath at the bars, plastic cups. The booze was stored in the bartenders cars/trunks......also hidden behind the stone wall in the disco room. We had two chrome kitchen tables, one in each room with a few kitchen chairs scattered about. NYC liquor board would not give a license to a gay bar, hence the bar was raided cops looking for their payoffs! The smaller slow dance room is now the bar!! The disco bar was through the stonewall into the store next door!!
