The Farmhouse

Outstanding spot for dinner. Nice ambience and the service was both friendly and on top of things. Had dinner on a Friday around 730 and it was crowded but not packed. Had a Caesar salad to start which was good but nothing special. Then had entrees. I had the quail which was great and my wife had the duck two ways which was also very nice.

First timers - died and have gone to food heaven - delicious and all local to boot. We walked in and happily waited, as friends have been telling us about this place for months (although most definitely worth the wait, pro tip: call ahead and make reservations). I had recently taken a poll among friends: where could I find the best biscuits and gravy in Kansas City? Pregnant and on a mission, we decided to give Farmhouse a try. Danny, our AMAZING server, recommended the half order of these cake-like biscuits with sausage gravy, and I was sure a half order wouldn't do the job I was craving. Boy, was I wrong; the half order (two biscuits) filled the entire plate, I couldn't believe it. The sausage gravy had that 'made from scratch' taste that I was after. Husband ordered a special - Italian Breakfast (think bruschetta with pork belly, mushrooms, and two eggs, sunny side up). Best brunch we've had in years. Worth the 45 minute drive. Highly recommend to both visitors and locals alike!

This was the first time I have had the pleasure of dining at this establishment, and I was thoroughly impressed. I'm a huge fan of local dining. Why would anyone want to go to a chain restaurant when you can get actual food for the same price from people who care? Anyway, the brunch was absolutely wonderful, with some amazing choices and great combinations. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was great, definitely a place to feel comfortable and just enjoy the experience. Definitely adding this one to the list.

I cannot say enough good things about The Farmhouse. The atmosphere, food, drinks, location, and staff embody everything people love about living in downtown Kansas City. I've had the pleasure of meeting Heidi and the rest of the staff multiple times and they are all amazing people that go out of their way to make sure you have a great experience. All of the food is locally sourced and they work with local farmers to get all of their ingredients. You can taste the difference in every dish I’ve tried here and nothing has disappointed. Definitely try the dry-aged hanger steak!

We enjoyed lunch here the other day. The hanger steak was delicious and perfectly cooked. The vegetable beef soup and salad were amazing but the vegetable dumplings were not so good. The service and atmosphere were fantastic. We would definitely recommend this restaurant.
