The accommodations were great. Nice rooftop pool with a great view , unique drink menu and great lunch menu. The room was clean and spacious with modern decor. Most importantly, what makes any stay great is customer service. The staff, I rate a 5 star; they were pleasant and helpful and went above and beyond to make sure that our stay was as pleasant as possible. I want to point out two staff members that stood out; Nathanael and Savannah they were extremely accommodating and pleasant ensuring from the moment we walked through the doors that we were well taken care of and happy the entire time. We definitely recommend and return.
You are only paying for the convenience of the location. The lobby is beautiful and gives the illusion that you are staying at a very high end hotel. The staff was very friendly. However, the room is very very basic. And as in other reviews, our room was dirty. The fridge had not been cleaned and had what looked like chocolate milk all over the inside. It was dusty and the floors were dirty. The only "luxury" was the walk in shower with the rainfall shower head. The rooftop pool was so small and the whole area was cramped. It was hard to move around and uncomfortable. I would not recommend this hotel if you are wanting a getaway for a special occasion. Incredibly over priced for such an under whelming experience.
Stayed here in Fall of 2021. Their marketing people did a great job with the architecture photography. The photos make it look much more luxurious and newer than it is in real life. It has a beautiful lobby, lovely artwork and decor and updated rooms, but it all felt a bit hollow and beat up to me. The night staff was very friendly, but the day staff seemed bothered by any requests or interaction with me. From the scuffs on the walls to rickety tables, it seems like they have stopped caring about the details. I know we’re in a pandemic, but the downtime is a great opportunity to touchup and fine tune. On the plus side, the hotel is quiet, and it is a great location. Solid bars and restaurants within walking distance, and many places to having meeting on the premises. That said, I would not stay here again. What was disappointing: - Breakfast water station empty - Pool edge paint chipped extensively - White trim paint all over the black wood floors - Scratches and damage to walls in room - No hot water in first room; had to be moved - Luggage rack in first room but missing from next room - Very small gym - Rooftop bar tabletop about to come off; had to use our purses stabilize the weight to drink our drinks - Different hairdryers in rooms—second had less power and no controls on amount of heat
Loved it! Very beautiful trendy hotel. Bathroom was huge. Shower was amazing! Definitely a good one to stay at. Only downfall is no free coffee. Parking is below in a garage that is accessible thru elevator. $25 a night. Rooms: Spacious and comfortable
Really great staff and beautiful rooms. Great location to walk over to the plaza as well! We had stayed at this same location prior, when it was under different ownership, and didn’t have more than a neutral opinion of the place but now definitely positive! We were traveling with our 18 month old daughter and several times the staff helped accommodate our requests or answer questions and were so friendly.
The room was gorgeous and had a great view. The location was great. Food from the hotel restaurant was excellent. But the best part was the top notch service at the bar and restaurant from MJ and Lydia! They made great conversation and drink recommendations! We enjoyed staying at the Fontaine so much that we extended our one night trip into two.
Had a rough go at this place between AC issues and bed bugs: Standard king room was small and the floor was blatantly dirty. Whatever, wasn’t there for the room so we went about the evening. The pool there is solid but the staff is completely overwhelmed and appears understaffed, which seems to be the case everywhere these days. The nice ladies were working hard but the pool service was very slow, seemed to be because they were tending to indoor and outdoor customers. Return from the evening out around midnight and the room is just hot. AC cranked down to 68 did nothing, I set it down to 55 and it still did nothing. Horribly uncomfortable and without a fan of any kind I managed maybe a few hours of sleep. It was worse the next morning when the sun rose. Now several days later here I am with a large number of bug bites 50+ which I suspect came from this dirty hotel room. I’ve never had bites like this before, and I’m pretty country! All I know is one rough night in this hotel has turned into an uncomfortable week. There is no deal or discount that would bring me back to this hotel. The price is normal for the area, but I’ve stayed in $50 road motels that were more comfortable and didn’t leave me itchy! I’d suggest ditching this area altogether and find something in Overland Park, where things are simply much nicer.
Beautiful hotel! I stayed here with my husband for a mini honeymoon for a couple nights after our wedding. We are ultimately saving up to travel out of country for our official honeymoon but still wanted to do something special, and the cost was budget friendly for the beautiful amenities. The rooftop pool was lovely, the restaurant and bar was tasty, and the customer service was great. The only thing is I wish the breakfast bar was 7 days a week, we missed out on that. Staff was helpful and the maintenance tech even helped us by letting us use some WD-40 when my partner's wheelchair started needing maintenance so we didn't have to make an unnecessary errand. So accommodating.
AWFUL. Our experience at the Fontaine was the worst hotel experience we’ve had, and their management seems to have no desire to change the experience for others. Their star rating and online photos give the perception of a high-end hotel but The Fontaine doesn’t live up to expectations. Additionally, after posting that we had a negative experience, their marketing manager reached out. I took the time to write a detailed message and was told she “wanted to talk with operations and would reach out the next day.” It’s been two weeks and we never heard a word back. See below to understand some of the reasons why we wouldn’t recommend this hotel: - Their “rooftop pool” is very small, and yet they rent their cabanas and day passes to the public. The pool was at capacity for the majority of our stay and by the time we had a chance to enjoy it, it was totally trashed from the drunken cabana desks. - They claim to have electric vehicle charging but actually just have two Tesla home chargers in their parking lot; we called to confirm this amenity before booking and weren’t told it was Tesla only. We’ve never encountered anywhere using Tesla home chargers like this. This was one the reason we booked at this hotel versus others in the city. - The ceiling of our hotel room was covered in dirty hand prints. Strange, I know. - It took over 40 minutes for a waitress to even bring us waters at their restaurant. Their food was mediocre and overpriced ; similar quality to wedding food catered by a large hotel. - They also rent out part of their restaurant to private parties. A private party was happening during our stay was extremely loud during our dinner. We then went to bed and realized that our room was directly below the party room, so we couldn’t sleep until 1AM from the noise of the party and then furniture being drug across the floor. - We tried to leave multiple times and were told that the hotel wouldn’t cancel our stay because we booked through a 3rd party. Then after working with our credit card company, we were told we still couldn’t leave and get a refund of our points because “we had accepted vouchers from them for food.” At that point, we hadn’t actually received let alone used the vouchers. - The most infuriating part of our stay though was that management lied to us multiple times, including stating that they don’t rent their cabanas out on weekends after originally telling us that they do and that’s why we couldn’t use the pool. I could go online and book a cabana for the next day or the following weekend. Also, the pool guests kept leaving the lobby in their swim suits and getting into Ubers. Strange behavior if they were guests of the hotel.
I was really excited to check out The Fontaine and enjoy the amenities. The hotel bars close early I want to say on a Saturday night they closed at 10 I just wanted a nightcap!. Trying to navigate the bar/restaurant hours and where to get food and drink via the website was not clearly stated. So I called to ask or make reservations and the operator had no idea with my question and sent me to their kitchen line, which kept ringing until I gave up. There was a huge stain on the furniture in the room I was in. It felt like a hotel that was once luxury, but has dialed back on the actual luxury items. No filled minibar, no bathrobes. It was comparable to any Holiday Inn Express visit. I'd consider this place 2 star at best regarding luxury. I really wanted to like this place, but it was just ok. I won't be returning.
