Teacher beware, my wife took continuing education courses, paid her tuition, took the class, then a bill came in the mail for student activity fee, Cota bus service fee, student union fee. She was taking a 3 hour course off campus. We called to say this must be a mistake, we own a car, she is taking the class in West campus, we never got any one to listen, they stated all students have these fees. OSU turned us over to the attorney general for collection. The bill from the attorney general says osu tuition fees, a complete lie and seems unlawful as they were not tuition fees. So if we do not pay the bill she will not get the credits for the continuing education class. It's gets better, the attorney general's office who is there for Ohio families to have a platform to express consumer wrong doing, will not help with osu due to they represent osu and told me to hire an attorney. This is our tax dollars at work, state sponsored school, concerned about the public. $86.70 is worth this to them!

On the positive side, which is why she is staying instead of transferring to another college, she is enjoying her classes. Her teachers have by-and-large been engaging and responsive and most of her classes are (happily) more challenging than she'd expected. So when it comes to her education, we are getting a good bang for our buck, particularly since she earned several scholarships through OSU as well as a hospital where she volunteered throughout high school. Here are the problems: 1.) Her first advisor ignored her e-mails - I mean completely. At least this made her decision to switch majors easier. 2.) For health reasons, she can't eat dairy or meat and the cafeterias have inadequate alternatives, so she asked about getting a dorm with a kitchen her second year and received a terse response, which I interpreted as "suck it up." She offered to provide medical documentation, but to no avail. We already wasted money on a meal plan, that despite being inadequate, we are required to purchase. Every week she has useless swipes left while she purchases food off campus. So another year will begin with her trying to stay healthy, yet eat affordably with only a tiny fridge and a microwave rather than living with inadequate nutrition or the adverse side effects of dairy. 3.) Despite repeated requests, including from her family physician's office, Younkin Center flat-out refused to see her when she was struggling to adjust her first semester. (Her perception is that the center had she been an athlete, she would have gotten whatever she needed. ) What's most maddening is how our mailbox was inundated with handwritten notes and other correspondence after she had been accepted, but had not made her decision. Once she accepted, it has been a deafening silence except for the e-mails that hit my inbox and mean absolutely nothing. Thankfully, we have family in Columbus so she isn't as alone as she could be.

OSU pushes its political (Democratic) views on its students. President Drake is the new Where's Waldo (no one has ever seen him on campus). OSU is way over its student capacity limit. OSU only cares about its research and athletics then if a student truly enjoys their student experience at OSU. The best gym on campus which is JON have awful hours, the dining facility hours and the food for students who use on campus dining meal plan are plan and boring, there's not that many healthy options. The NRC is an immaculate example of students tuition being wasted. OSU wants to raise tuition but they don't care about creating solutions when it comes to cutting back on expenses, President Drake must be blinded at night by all the lights inside the buildings at night since he doesn't see how much of a financial waste keeping the lights on at night costs. I regret coming here. This school just sucks don't come here if you hate stupidity or piss poor leadership.

Excellent school. One of the largest universities but campus is easy to navigate and very manageable. Good location to Columbus.
