I went during a time when the bar was Buddy the elf themed in December. The cocktail menu had a whole bunch of cocktails in the spirit of the movie Elf. They were very creative and well made. I personally had a Sazerac served in a flask and a margarita with candy in it. Both were great. That being said, this is a cocktail bar and it's fairly expensive at the cheapest being between $8 and $9.
So I would definitely recommend this place if your looking for a laid back, relaxed place to get very good, innovative mixed drinks. The bartender/mixologist has a creative style which works very well. Well designed stylish decor, slight vintage feel. Didn't try the food, but if it's as good as the drinks your fine. It's absolutely worth your patronage.
This place is a gem, and one of a kind. The Phoenix stands head and shoulders above any other establishment I’ve been to in Milwaukee. Most unique drinks in the city. Classy ambiance with a nod to the historical aspect of the structure. Extremely knowledgeable and skilled staff. A must see even if you’re only in town for a night.
Beautiful style and atmosphere, thoughtful decor, antiques, chandeliers, handmade wooden bar that obviously had lots of love and hard work from the owners. Drinks are many and diverse, and all are very well crafted, carefully designed drinks by skilled mixologists with unique touches I have not seen anywhere else. I could compare it to the best cocktail bars I visited living in Manhattan and Brooklyn except its better. Staff is friendly, the owners are humble and welcoming. Exemplary hospitality. If you dont go here you are missing what is to quickly become a Milwaukee staple.
Phoenix was the perfect last stop on our "cocktail crawl" last night. They have a terrific friendly staff, and a unique and fun cocktail menu. We were particularly thrilled to see Rhine Hall pear brandy on the menu!
In total we were there about two hours. Food was decent. I had a turkey blt. It was good. The kids had burgers. They liked them. A good place for out of towners for a unique experience. The staff here were very nice.
Excellent curated beer list, delicious craft cocktails, friendly staff, nice interior with creative and thoughtful design details like coat hooks and usb phone charging outlets under the bar. Definitely a fun new Milwaukee hangout!
Really good drinks, but sub-par service. We got served in a few minutes, but our friend was ignored for 20 minutes as the bartender talked to his friends. We pointed out that our friend had been waiting and the bartender just said he'd get to it eventually. Really disappointed.
Drinks are unique and the food is great. The chef is in to pickling which sounds weird, but none-the-less the food was good. I really enjoyed trying the sampler of pickled goodness.
Want a smoothie that packs a punch? I tried all but one and they were each quite strong! The Kill Bill even comes with a comic book for you to read. I can't wait to come back and try their other drinks.
