Absolute stunner of a posh hotel. Extremely attentive and polite staff, and luxurious appointments that cater to the silk-stocking crowd. The only drawbacks are the noisy A/C compressor built into the room convector and inability to turn the fan off.Rooms: 4/5
A great location for shopping if you opt for a view of the park from your room. Lots of attractions however are further downtown so be prepared to walk. Very old school 5 star hotel and superseded these days by the hotels like the Langham etc in terms of facilities and finish.Rooms: 4/5
Bed was comfortable, HVAC system is good. There is no coffee in this hotel after 8am and your only option is to go to the restaurant. Seriously, the Pierre could learn a thing from the Best Western and pretty much every hotel chain in America and put a coffee machine in the room. When you pay this much for a hotel and it was my first time, you expect some amenities to be included, but once you are there it just feels like you’re getting nickel and dimed for everything. Getting a suit steamed was $64, the lightest snack at the bar was $35, a single waffle was $33, the almonds in the minibar were $12, and I was expecting “turn down service” to include at least a piece of candy on the bed but it didn’t.
Our stay at this hotel was nothing short of spectacular! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by an exceptional staff shout out to Anna & JC! who went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. While we waited for our room, Anna arranged to have tea and biscuits delivered to me right in the lobby, since we were tired from our travels! She did her best to make sure our room was ready early, and it was everything we could have hoped for and more- Spacious, beautifully decorated, large tv, and a bed so comfy we felt like we were sleeping on a cloud I had to drag my wife out of it so we could sightsee lol. The bathroom was a dream come true, boasting a huge shower and a separate tub for those relaxing soaks after our long days of exploring. One of the highlights for me was the breathtaking city views from the window, which added an extra layer of magic to our stay. The historical vibes of the hotel gave it a unique charm, and I loved learning about its rich heritage during my time there. One thing that truly set this hotel apart was the presence of an elevator operator, adding a touch of old-world elegance to our rides up and down : The rotunda with its hand-painted murals was a gorgeous place to relax. We only had the pleasure of staying 2 nights, but each night, the Housekeeping staff left us gifts including sunglass cleaners, cord protectors, lavender satchels, beauty products, and even left my wife a new bookmark in her book on the nightstand- These types of touches were appreciated beyond belief! Each morning, we started the day with a complimentary continental breakfast in the lobby, complete with fresh coffee, tea, and pastries Low carb? Not so much. Delicious? YES!. It was the perfect way to fuel up before heading out to explore the city. Speaking of location, this hotel couldn't be better situated. Within walking distance to Central Park and all the fancy shops 5th Avenue has to offer, I felt like I was truly in the heart of the action. Although pricey, our stay at this hotel was nothing short of perfection. From amazing staff to the beautiful room, delicious breakfast, and prime location, it exceeded all our expectations. We can't wait to return! Nearby activities: Just a 3 minute walk to Central Park!
Overall a very nice hotel and would recommend. The room was amazing, the view over Central Park was great, and the maid staff in particular were brilliant. My only complaint about the hotel was the bellman standing and watching me load my bags into my taxi as I left without coming over to help; I would expect more at any hotel, let alone such a prestigious hotel that does so well in all other areas.
Once one of the best hotels in town, now it’s way overrated and living off its past. Rooms and Lobby are visibly old and dirty with stains on the carpet everywhere. We reserved and paid for a park view room just to find out that the room’s view is of the city and very very partially of the park although they charge almost 300$ extra for the view, the bathroom was ridiculously small and outdated furniture. I remembered the Pierre for its service but that was probably the worst delusion. We tried to have breakfast one of the mornings we stayed there and it could not be worse. After waiting for 20 minutes to get a table, we were repeatedly rushed to order and leave the table. When we said it was an unacceptable treatment, we were told by the arrogant waitress that she didn’t have time to lose. This was to me something that goes beyond being unacceptable considering the cost of breakfast for two of more than $100. Hopefully we managed to have a proper breakfast with an amazing service at the Carlyle few blocks from there. Will never return to the Pierre!
Dinner on Sunday night, our waiter was VICTOR from Ecuador. My family visiting has wonderful memories of THE PIERRE. We booked a table and luckily Victor was our waiter. He was superb. He was attentive, warm, caring and all of his recommendations were SPOT ON. The soup was excellent and the steaks were divine. The steak tartar was one of the best we ever experienced. The fish courses were delicate but tasty but the jewel in the crown here were the desserts: a great contrast of light and delicate [ the Pavlova] to pure decadence [ their chocolate creation ]. The evening was purely subtle elegance. It was dining like old New York! Again, it was the seamless service by Victor and his team that made the evening memorable. I travel and dine out a lot and the TAJ chain is one of the best in the world. Victor, enjoy the 2 dollar bill. We of course left a tip but the 2 dollar bill was a REGALO, A GIFT. BUENA SUERTE. Food & drinks: Old classic style with very professional, white glove service.
Worst hotel expertise ever. I paid for my room in full 3 months in advance so my family and I can have new years holiday and once we arrived we learned that our rooms were given away. The offered no help and had to fight for 2 days to get my refund approved and it cost us double to find something similar. Worst hotel experience ever plus the place is completely old and fun down and all highways smell like smoke.
Still a very classy place! The staff at the restaurant are truly outstanding. I think Victor was the name of the waiter who truly made our meal memorable.Rooms: 5/5
A/C didn’t work in the room on wedding night They gave me a small credit, not even 10% of the cost of the room but it ruined the wedding night. Find somewhere with better customer service and more up to date rooms
