My husband and I dined for an early dinner on Valentine's Day. There is construction going in the area so give yourself extra time, but there is a parking garage so you won't have to hunt when you arrive. The host was really friendly and we were immediately taken to our table. Our waiter, Jason, was excellent. He shared recommendations, explained how to order from the raw bar, and helped me pick the perfect drink. The food was wonderful! It wasn't too loud or too crowded. Outdoor dining was available and they had heaters to keep guests warm. We went at 1715 so it wasn't very crowded in our area but before we left quite a few more tables were in use than when we arrived. If you're concerned about the crowd, an early dinner around 1700 is perfect, you'll be wrapping up as the crowd is starting to arrive. We will absolutely return to fine again!
This is one of the lesser known gems among seafood restaurants in the DC area, but we had a great meal. View cannot be beat although parking can be a bit tough given that it is right next to the baseball stadium. If you can get street parking you are very lucky. The oysters were very fresh and tasty, and the service was top-notch. Standard fare like fried seafood and hearty side dishes were all very good.
We have eaten at Salt Line regularly for years, and it is among the best approachable seafood spots in DC. Go with the raw bar or our faves: the smash burger and the lobster roll with butter, of course. Don’t miss the baked pimento cheese app and ask for extra chips with it. Outdoor seating on the water is available with some of the best heaters in DC during the winter. The outdoor bar is also great and lively with good drinks and crowds during happy hour or before or after Nats games.
I finally had some Pappy van Winkle! Outstanding location with a beautiful view outside and comfortable setting inside. The menu items are fantastic making it hard to choose just one thing. The clam selection is fantastic, as is the presentation. The clam chowder is very good, but not as good as the other food items that our group purchased. The staff is very friendly, efficient and engaging. The food was terrific and the drinks were perfectly mixed. Great experience and I highly recommend it.
My friend and I enjoyed a very tasty lunch here. Taking advantage of the half price special on local oysters on the Friday midsummer afternoon, I feasted on Chesapeake Bay oysters from both Maryland and Virginia. As the Virginia ones were not large as promised, the restaurant provided an extra oyster for my enjoyment. I also liked the only salad on the menu with thin sliced veggies among the spring mix. My friend raved over the fish sandwich on its super tasty bun.
On my Bdays weekend adventures, we stop here for dinner. Food was delicious depending on what was ordered. My fish wasn't done..it wasn't well flavor either, it was raw, waiter took it back... they finished cooking it and brought it back out. Sprouts were great, along with my daughter's meal. The views were beautiful! It was a night experience, not a daytime.
Very tasty, would go again. Got the clam chowder, lobster roll, crispy rockfish, and fried clam bellies. Clam chowder was a bit too watery for my taste which is why I had rated lower. Otherwise, service amazing, great location, and awesome food.
Amazing food and nice water side outdoor patio that's conveniently located right across from Nationals Park. The service was really good and everything that was recommended came out delicious. I highly recommend trying the Oysters 1 and 4, the lobster roll and the soft shell crab which is seasonal. You will be pleasantly satisfied.
Went here for NYE - overall ok. Food: 4/5. The bread rolls and crab dip were solid, but I was a bit underwhelmed by the lobster roll. Bread was nicely toasted, but the lobster bits weren’t as seasoned as I would have liked. Also ordered the Brussels sprouts as a side and thought they were decent. Service: 4/5. Was a busy night so I understand that, but service was fairly slow. Waited for some time to place our orders and get the check. For the $ value, restaurant is good if you factor in the views surrounding it as others have mentioned. Though if you’re looking for stellar food, there are many other top choices in DC too.
The appetizers and lobster roll stole the night here! The crab dip and brussel sprouts are must-tries, and though I personally didn't enjoy the eggplant with the burrata, the rest of my party liked it. The lobster roll dressed, the best way, fight me was delicious with huge portions of lobster - totally worth the price. The burger was tasty and fresh, if a little plain, and the crudo was good quality though with very few pieces of fish. I wouldn't get the crudo again, but I've been on the west coast for so long I'm probably spoiled. Overall, fun vibes, great waterfront view, and we got a table right away at 7pm on a Friday night.
