We loved the way the owners son welcomed ,us and helped us to the back. The food was absolutely the closet thing to Granny's I've had since she's been gone. The atmosphere was like a Big Hug .
Went for Sunday buffet and was not disappointed. The food was delicious, employees were very nice, and the cook walked around to make sure everyone was enjoying their meals. I will definitely be back! The black eyed peas, creamed corn, and meats were my favorite. Banana pudding was really good also.
The buffet is small but very good food. The squash and macaroni n cheese were delicious. People were very nice. You basically serve yourself and the place is not fancy but its clean. $12 for adults includes buffet, dessert and drink tea, lemonade or water. CASH ONLY, though an ATM is onsite. I will definitely visit again but earlier. We arrived an hour before closing so they were not refreshing things as often. However, we were full when we left and they asked us which desserts we wanted and got them for us from the kitchen.
EXCELLENT FOOD!!!!! If you are looking for a down home, good old fashioned, tastes like grandma cooked it from scratch on a Sunday afternoon meal this is the place for you! The dining room isn't fancy but the staff was extremely friendly and made my wife and I feel completely at home. Absolutely hated to leave and can't wait to go back!!
Recently my Grandmother invited me to The Secret Garden for Sunday dinner. I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into, but, I decided to give it a shot and boy am I glad I did! The food is incredible and they have everything you'd want from fried chicken, meatloaf and cubed steak to rutabagas, mac 'n cheese, collard greens, and stewed squash. Thinking about dessert, the peach cobbler is amazing! Mr. Poole, the owner, is an incredibly kind man who makes you feel like you are the most important person in his restaurant. Please send this man your business, he's as good as it gets!
Best vegetables ever and they come from the owners garden. Boneless pork chops to die for along with boneless chicken that's great. Pecan pie from his pecan trees and it's wonderful. Best southern cooking buffet I've tried.
Went to eat, found out at the door it's cash only because apparently they don't know what year it is. Spent 20 minutes finding an ATM and getting cash, come back and are told to check the buffet to see if there is enough food for our family because they are almost out, despite it being an hour until closing time and only 3 other cars in the lot. There was no meat/main dishes of any kind left, and most of the mere dozen food items they had were either gone or nearly so. What was left didn't look that great, either I guess it'd been out for a while. It would have been nice to know they don't make enough food for more than a handful of families to eat there each day before we drove around looking for an ATM because they can't afford a $10 Square reader. If I can take credit/debit, they should be able to. It's $13/person for a tiny buffet. Must be really tasty for them to be able to stay open at all.
This is a family run restaurant and it is good eating. Only As from DEHC, which means this restaurant is clean. Super friendly owner, who grows his vegetables in a greenhouse and the pecans for the pecan pie comes off a tree he owns. Only accepted cash today, $12 a plate. Only opens Saturday and Sunday 11-3. This is a hidden secret off the main road.p
I had lunch here with a girlfriend for the first time today and it was awesome. As some would say: It was off the chain! They had the best country cooking like tender porkchops, fried chicken, the best macaroni and cheese, baby lima beans, rutabagas, field peas, fried and stewed squash and also melt in your mouth biscuits and corn muffins. The desserts were so good too. I'll be back!
Very authentic home cooked southern food! Don't be afraid to ask what is in the back - we got pecan pie made from pecan from his land that way! Every vegetable he uses is from his farm.
