Excellent bbq with generous portions and I love the mustard sauce and the hash. Been eating here since I was a kid in the 1980's. BBQ done right. Get there early enough for some rich and flavorful pork skins.
Arrived Sat afternoon they were due to close in 2 hours, very little food left. Given choice of 1 lb pulled pork with mustard sauce, 1lb ribs with sweet sauce, or hash, bought one of each. Ribs were disappointing, sauce was a crispy coating and meat was tough/chewy. The hash was okay, not much flavor, and the biggest disappointment was the pulled pork. Mustard based sauce is not my favorite, but over the years I am accustomed to it, if I can taste the pork. Here, I had to rinse off the sauce to sse any pork, and I still could not taste the pork, just the mustard. I realize some people like lots of sauce, but when I buy pork, or a steak, I like to taste the meat first, than decide how much sauce or spice to add.
Very good BBQ, and have heard good comments about the hash and ribs as well. Reasonably priced, & in business since 1957. Open Fridays & Saturdays. Highly recommended!Food: 4/5
Single worst bbq sandwich I’ve ever had. Being a Kansas man bbq is a sacred item. South Carolina is one of the 4 capitals for good Que. hoping today wasn’t a good day for their representation.
I was excited to try this place as I've heard good things, but I was very disappointed. I found the food to be very bland & the Carolina Gold sauce to be nothing more than just mustard slathered on meat. The pork was okay but had large junks of fat in it & the hash was served in a pool of liquid. If you're looking for good Midlands que, I'd suggest another place.
This is exactly how BBQ is supposed to be cooked!! Thank you Hites BBQ for the amazing experience I had today. You gave me my fix for BBQ. The RIbs were amazing so juicy and tender with pieces of crispy skin.
Food wasn't as good as the hype. Not alot of sides served. Pulled pork wasn't as seasoned as I'd like. Banana pudding wasn't from scratch tasted like out of box
Generous portions of tender pork and hash/rice at a fair price. Mustard based and similar to Maurice's. The Cole slaw was tasty, and the banana pudding was as well $2.00 for 8oz.. They appear use sticky rice, and I prefer separate rice like Zataran's. Overall a good value, especially if you like mustard BBQ. No hot sauce which was a disappointment. My favorite BBQ in the area is Ward's in Sumter. If you get a chance to eat there ... delicious.
Been looking at this place for a while decided to stop in today and grab a bite to eat got to hash and two barbecue sandwiches I don't know who told these people this food was good but it was terrible waste of money waste of time should have went and got Chinese if I could give it zero reviews I certainly would this is a not a good place to eat mustard barbecue never heard of it I'm from Georgia I never heard of mustard barbecue sauce they're barbecue sandwiches were mustard barbecue sandwiches never heard of that
The only reason I'd want FSU to join the SEC is so we would have a reason to go to Columbia so we could load up on Hites!! Tired id detouring off of I-95 for it. My dad was from Columbia and put us on that Yellow 'Cue and Hash!!!
