I’ve taken a number of conversation and literature classes from Tierra. It’s by far the best place around to learn Spanish. Classes are small (6-8 people) so there’s lots of opportunity to practice speaking. The classes are taught by native Spanish speakers who know how to teach. Highly recommended.

I have taken a couple of classes at Tierra and want to heartily endorse this school as a great place to learn Spanish in Portland. The classes are small and everyone there is very friendly and welcoming. I found the learning climate warm and inclusive--best of all, the teachers seem to really know their students and tailor the content, concepts and pace to the needs of the students. There are no extra costs for books and other materials as they draw from various sources-all provided to you. They offer an extra tutoring class once a week and monthly conversation/social nights. I feel great about supporting this locally owned business--Norberto and Elyse have made a niche for themselves here and I am glad I found them!

Tierra Education Center is one of the best places to start learning Spanish, continue learning Spanish, refine your language, or examine the cultures surrounding the language. Many of the classes are taught by people who's mother tongue is Spanish making the experience authentic. I have found the the teachers try to challenge my knowledge while at the same time keeping me on track with my level for conceptualizing key components of the language. I always look forward to the class and regret when the lesson is over. The prices are extremely fair in comparison to other centers and when you miss a class, you have the option to do a private lesson at a discounted rate. Also, Wednesdays there are extra assistance hours which I have used a few times to get a more in depth and 1 on 1 answer to problems I have been having on certain lessons. Tierra teachers are enthusiastic and make learning fun. I leave class wanting to practice what I have just learned and am actually excited to do "homework." The small class size makes it perfect for lots of interaction and personal attention. They do a good job creating a welcoming and very low-pressure environment. My colleague recommended Tierra to me and I'm so glad she did. It is well worth the money!

Tierra is the best place to go to if you want to learn Spanish! The class size is small which is very helpful. The teachers and the staff are very caring. There is a perfect balance between conversation time and learning time in class. They always communicate with the students well and do their best in making sure all students are taking advantage of class time. Elyse was a fantastic teacher!
