Tomas Bistro

We held my son’s rehearsal dinner at The Gallery at Thomas Bistro in December. The main room in the facility has a really neat industrial/New Orleans vibe and a cool patio the patio is pretty small but was great for guests. There is also a pretty big front room that we used for a cocktail hour and post dinner welcome party. That area is fairly plain but worked well as a separate location for our guests before and after dinner. Overall the layout of the venue itself was great for what we needed and accommodated us well. The food was very good and the chef did a great job at our tasting and rehearsal dinner. My biggest negative about this venue was the difficult communication with our main contact, Emily. This started when I first visited the place about a year ago when I provided about a 5 minute walkthrough of the building. I felt rushed as if I was being an inconvenience to her and I basically didn’t get any info about the venue unless I asked. It was super odd. But since I liked the feel of the place, I just hoped it was an off day for communication for Emily and I signed a contract. Fast forward 6 silent months and I contacted her via email to set up a tasting. I was literally never provided her cell phone number the entire time even though I asked for it on more than one occasion so all I had was an office number and email. This was extremely frustrating and unheard of in today’s world. Communication was always delayed and disjointed because of this. Emily didn’t show up for our tasting, which I of course thought she would so I couldn’t discuss our RD plans and ideas. This frustrating communication gap continued on in a similar way up until the actual event. I had to communicate all my final details and requests of what I was wanting at our RD and post dinner party via emails. Emily wasn’t even my “night of” contact so several things at our post dinner Welcome Party didn’t go as requested and undoubtedly got lost in translation. I do compliment Wallace who did a great job for us on the night of the rehearsal dinner with the info he was indirectly provided. So overall the venue and food are very good. The event staff worked hard and were quite pleasant. If you select this as your venue just know that may have communication challenges with Emily that could ultimately affect your event. This may not be the case for everyone but I have read similar reviews on precisely this issue.

Terrible experience for looking into this place for a wedding. The woman that gave us “the tour” lasted about six minutes, acted like she didn’t want us there, wasn’t very welcoming and very dismissive. Don’t waste your money here

We hosted our March 26, 2022 wedding at The Gallery Venue at Tomas Bistro and it was beyond what we ever imagined. Emily was our main contact throughout the planning process and she was professional, knowledgeable, and very accommodating. She communicated every step of the way and made us feel so comfortable by the day of the wedding. The venue is stunning and has the perfect balance of a New Orleans vibe mixed with rustic/industrial. The two separate areas allowed for easy guest flow and gave people the chance to step away from the music for a break, if needed. Our guests also LOVED the courtyard - people were out there all night! The entire Gallery staff was wonderful and professional and the food was outstanding. We're still getting compliments about it a few weeks later! Mary was our personal attendant for the evening and she was incredible. Always made sure my husband and I had a drink in our hand and made sure we had time to eat before our entrance. She took great care of us and my parents! We would 100% recommend The Gallery for a NOLA wedding! The location is also AMAZING. Just far enough away from Bourbon and the Quarter but still a hopping area at night. The restaurants were packed when we did our second line and it was so fun to celebrate with our guests and everyone who was out and about. Huge thanks to The Gallery and staff for an incredible wedding day!

The venue is gorgeous, no doubt about that. However, I have to say the woman Emily that I've been trying to communicate with about planning my wedding, has made this experience horrible. She hasn't responded to any of my SEVERAL emails expressing my interest until my fiancé a man stepped in. Once we finally set up a tour, we could tell she didn't really want us there. The tour lasted not even 10 minutes I've been on at least 15 tours this entire process and they all have lasted at least 30. My fiancé would ask her questions and she was very uninterested and very distant. We looked back at the video with our parents and they could see she didn't want us there. It felt extremely cold and unwelcoming. I asked her if she could show me the bridal suite and she was like, "yeah you can go up and see it yourself". Man, like you can't even show me? Coming from an out of town bride who is so ecstatic to be marrying my best friend in New Orleans, this experience broke my heart. I couldn't tell if she just didn't like me, or us, was it the color of our skin? It hurt, especially seeing all the praises she's gotten in other reviews. I'm not here to say she's a horrible event manager, and I understand people have personal things in their lives...but she really did crush my dreams that day. I cried. I'd suggest the NOPSI or The Chicory if you're looking for impeccable service in NOLA!

Very very beautiful place. My friend had a wedding there this weekend. The staff were ALL very polite and helpful. I couldn't think of a better place to have the reception. Thank you all so much for a wonderful and beautiful time. Oh and the food was to die for!!!!!

This is my go to spot when I'm NOLA. Great food, service and ambiance. Groupon has a deal for them every now and then, go check it out.

Having our wedding here in September, will do a more in-depth review after! I will say though everything has been great from communication to the food tasting. I really enjoy the feel and look of the venue as well.

This is a beautiful place but lacks professional management. How they’ve handle the return of our wedding deposit has been a nightmare! We were to have our wedding in June 2020 but due to COVID they had to cancel it due to the government restrictions at that time. According to our contract, we are to receive a full refund. We’ve reached out several times to receive our deposits back but no one will respond. Apparently they’re having events there now so I don’t understand why we haven’t received our money back. It sucks to have a business hold our money during tough times like this!

Not only is it an awesome place for dinner but Tomas did an amazing job on making our wedding perfect in anyway. I can't think of anything i would have done differently. I am sitting almost crying because I can not believe it is over! The ceremony and reception were beautiful! The food top notch as well as the service! They gave us are own waiter who always made sure if we needed anything! They really go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect! Which it was! Emily is so incredibly nice and awesome! I highly recommend having your reception and ceremony like I did at Tomas! I am so glad my Wedding Planner Michelle of Unique Weddings told me and showed me this place! Till next time tomas you will always be in our hearts!
