The food and service at Topaz was good. The staff is attentive, kind and continuously checked in to make sure that we were comfortable and to check-in which I appreciated. Good service and hospitality goes a long way so I was very impressed. The decor is nice as well, it sort of felt like a Thai restaurant in a speakeasy to be honest! I’m curious to know which business was in the space prior to the restaurant. My friend and I ordered the spring rolls, Thai dumplings, royal duck and swimming duck. Both of the duck dishes were a bit sweet but very tasty. The dumplings were probably the best Thai dumplings I’ve tried in the city thus far. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for lunch or date night.
Amazing underground Thai spot. Quick service, delicious food and fresh ingredients. They will go the extra mile to make you happy. Drinks are good and quiet fancy. From the soup to the salad to the appetizer - every dishes made special. I really recommend the Tom Yum soup I asked to make it less spicy for myself and Crying tiger steak. Insider trick: they have table for two at a private cabin by the window - highly recommend to book it in advance.
Wow this is truly a top pick for Thai in NYC. The dishes were first rate, and very authentic. I didn't even ask for extra spicy and the food was perfect. The place was decorated with Christmas stuff, and it was very cute. There were little santa's, and else, and it was adorable. Service was very good, all smiles and honest warmth. My son quoted, "This place is a 10 out of 10 and I want to come back again!"
First off this place is the best so far for Thai food for me. The flavors are amazing and super mouth watering. The drunken noodles is a 10 out of 10. The pineapple fried rice is sooo good. The lychee cocktail is 10 out of 10 the best. The service is fast and efficient. Definitely go back here!!!!
Fantastic dinner at Topaz! Went for the first time with a friend who’s been several times before. I have to say, the Massaman curry is one of the best ones I’ve ever had!! So delicious. My friend had the drunken noodle which was amazing too. Will definitely go back
The food was great. The problem is the staff. Our waiter was rude and the sad part is I dont think he knows hes rude. He rushed us to order and only took one persons drink order and when he returned we told him we weren't done with ordering drinks and he put his hand up as one would do to indicate well what do you want and rushed my 9 year old to order. Mind you we were the only customers in the restaurant at this time. Then after leaving a 15% undeserved tip he had the audacity to reprint the receipt and say that we needed to give a more than 20% tip. It was only 3 people if your thinking we had a large party, nope. Very unfortunate, lost a customer.
Cozy, friendly, and quick. A really great place to pop in and enjoy a meal after 8 pm. The green curry with shrimp is excellent.Food: 5/5
Very cute and fancy thai restaurant in 5th Ave! relaxing, cool outdoor and interior design. A good place to eat with authentic thai food. I had the cry tiger thai grilled marinated steak with sticky rice and ofcourse thai iced tea it was a bomb!!! Servers were really nice too! A must try Thai Restaurant to dine in in NYC.
The must-have Thai Food in NYC. Their Bangkok Fried Rice surprise me so much!!! Location is also good for ppl live near Time Square. Awesome service and everything is tasty there! Owner and waiters are super nice and cute
When you get there, you need to walk down stairs, slightly below street level; note the bottom last step is really short. You get deep fried rice chips as a complimentary snack, its served with a small dish of peanut sauce. They have a full bar so these chips would go great with beer. We started with the Chive Lover... yes it has a glorious chive flavor. I think its chive mochi that has been fried. 1 order is 4 cubes... crispy crust and soft center. Thumbs up for this appetizer. The Beef Pad Thai was pretty good... beef was tender and the dish had a rich tamarind flavor. Sweet with just a bit of tartness. The noodles were soft and had good bit of bite. The Royal Duck, I think was winning entrée. The duck was roasted and crispy. Most of it was boneless. The sauce is on the sweet side, but the good news is that it was not swimming in sauce. The thin egg noodles under the duck was cooked perfectly, I think it was better than the Pad Thai. The greens under the noodles were tender. Overall this dish was awesome and it deserves 5 stars all by itself. The Massaman Curry with chicken was OK. The chicken was strips of white meat. The curry is suppose to contain peanuts, but I did not see any peanuts there. Please note that the chunks of potato were on the hard side. The sauce was a bit on the watery side, but very flavorful. There is only 1 unisex bathroom available to customers. Unfortunately, I was unable to take a look at it. The only thing that kept me from giving Topaz 5 stars was the service. They were attentive, but it seems like they were rushing to get out fast. There were open tables so I do not think was because of occupancy. Another thing was after I paid, the wait staff took the bill folio before I had a chance to pull out the bill and then he threw the bill away. This was part of why it felt so rushed.
