Founded by Alvin P. Jackson.
Fauborg Treme' is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city of New Orleans. Historically, Treme was the main neighborhood of the free people of color. Its boundaries are Esplanade Avenue to the east, North Rampart Street to the south, St. Louis Street to the west and North Broad Street to the north. A racially mixed community today, it remains an important center of the city's African-American and Creole culture. Imagine the procession of mardi gras indians, the march of brass bands and the sounds of jazz. Treme's Petit Jazz Museum will enlighten and illustrate those cultural icons.
