This hidden gem is the best Vietnamese in South City. I've visited several times and everything I've ever ordered has been absolutely delicious. Large portions at low prices ($7-$15).
As far as I can tell, the place is run by two ladies, one serves and the other cooks. Excellent service always given with a big smile.
Relaxing and quiet (no annoying TVs or radio). The facilities are a bit outdated, but that adds to the charm in my opinion.

The food was good and cheap. Not my favorite place for Vietnamese but great for a quick and inexpensive bite to take home.

If you can get beyond the appearance, the food is an authentic Vietnamese experience. Rather than an Americanized version of cuisine, Truc Lam is true to its roots.

Every time I come here, I am satisfied when I leave. I don't tend to order a variety of dishes, but the one's I have gotten before do not disappoint.
Today, I came with a friend while being in town for a wedding, and ordered #18. The portion size is a good balance of noodles and beef, and as always, they give you basil, bean sprouts, limes, and jalapenos on the side.
I also enjoy the broth. It is flavorful. :)
Lastly, the ambience here is very laid back. It's a great place to just drop in and have a relaxed meal.
