We just ordered takeout today while I’m home quarantining from Covid. I was craving egg drop soup and 2 other people had recommended this place. This was quite literally the best egg drop soup I have ever had! I’ve been to Chinese restaurants all over the country including Manhattan and I will tell you hands-down this egg drop soup is phenomenal. It’s not slimy like some of the other reviews said. Those are people who have been conditioned to water down egg drop soup. Trust me I know from being at five star restaurants. I ordered a combo plate that came with egg drop soup and a puu puu platter. Everything was delicious except the fried rice, yes that was bland and only had a little egg, but it didn’t taste bad by any means. All the other food was so phenomenal that’s why I’m giving it five stars
A 1 star review of Tsai's Chinese Bistro by Karen S.: APPALLINGLY BAD. AM REQUESTING A FULL REFUND, REPORTING TO DOORDASH & HEALTH DEPT. 3 small shrimp across all 3 egg foo young pancakes, and literally NO bean sprouts inside. WTH? Only veg is diced carrot w peas, looks like it's from frozen bulk cheapo bags from Sam's Club. Thin drippy flavorless "gravy" FOUL. Combo fried rice that smells like rotten fish with practically NO protein or egg, more bits of bubed carrots and peas, with a putrid taste - literally DANGEROUS to eat. Slimy egg drop soup. Spicy dumplings, so overcooked the dumpling dough slides off into the liquid, leaving a nasty tube of extruded meat on the spoon. Also ordered eggplant w tofu and am literally afraid to even open it. Tried to call restaurant before 7pm but no answers, and their vm box is full. Tomorrow I will absolutely be calling the NM Dept Of Health to reoort them. Yes, it was THAT BAD. Shame on Tsai's Chinese Bistro.
We'd been wanting to give this place a go for a while. Intrigued by the whole "Chinese Bistro" thing, so a few nights ago, we ordered take away. Normally we don't order any kind of "family dinner," but in this case we did because we thought that perhaps it'd give us an overview of what we might expect of the other dishes offered by Tsai's. I mean, if the dishes comprising a family meal are good, the other dishes should be good as well. Bad move. Our choice of entree was the Lo Mein. Like one of the other reviewers here, I've been fortunate enough to have eaten some really amazing and mind-blowingly good Chinese food over the course of my life, and that includes restaurants in the heart of San Francisco's Chinatown. If you have ever had amazing Chinese food, then you KNOW what amazing Chinese food tastes like. This is not it. The appetizers comprising the "pupu platter" were hideous. I couldn't bring myself to even eat the beef stick. My experience with the egg drop soup could not have been more disappointing. I'm glad that somebody else had the opposite experience. I regret not having gone with the hot and sour soup, but had I done so, I think I know how that would have gone. The lo mein was perfectly awful. Spaghetti noodles with a lackluster brown sauce and a scant amount of vegetables scattered in with the protein choices. We didn't even eat the fried rice. Yesterday, I didn't want to let the food go to waste, so I had it for lunch. I opened the container of fried rice to discover that I just had a container of sadness. All it was was white rice with a brown sauce on it. Not a vegetable to be seen. Not even a pea. Possibly the worst fried rice I have EVER had. The net net of this story is: Stay away, keep your money in your pocket and go spend it at Chin Shan instead.
One of the best Chinese restaurants in town. Having lived in several other bigger cities, it doesn’t hit their mark but definitely the best in Albuquerque. Our favorites are their mapo tofu, beef chow fun, and general Tso chicken. Quantities are enough for 2 people for each main course. Vegetarian options: Great vegetarian options. Try their dumpling or tofu dishes.
Just had garlic shrimp and vegetable delight. Enough vegetables came with the shrimp that I probably should've ordered something else instead of vegetable delight but both were excellent. Best Chinese I've had in quite awhile.
Very good food and friendly service. I was with 3 other people and we had an assortment of dishes. Each was authentic and tasted great.
What a great find! This is certainly some of the best Chinese food in town. The dining room is clean and well appointed, and the service is superb. I ordered the orange chicken dinner. A three course meal, it started with egg drop soup followed by a sampler of shrimp, egg roll, and Rangoon. The portion of orange chicken was unbelievable and the artistic work on the orange was a wonderful touch! Their menu has a lot more to offer though. All the classic dishes are available, and in many different meal configurations. Check in for specials as well!
The Wonton soup is delicious! Also had pork fried rice tempura shrimp and shrimp with vegetables. Best we’ve had in Albuquerque in a long time.
I have never had one bad plate of food from this place. It's a hidden doub gem I highly suggest you try this place. I suggest the spicy dishes. The hot and sour soup is delicious. The number two specialty dumplings are amazing
