Twin town is my favorite guitar shop in the twin cities. Tons of variety paired with great prices. The staff are the best part though, all very considerate and knowledgeable, and are willing to work with you and your particular situation. Warren, one of their guitar techs has helped me out several times and does excellent work for a great price. Always pleased, highly recommend.

We had a terrible experience at TwinTown Guitars. We were looking for a beginner guitar for my 9 year old son who is just starting. Regular adult sized guitar was too big for him, so we came to the store after seeing the positive reviews about the selections available. I made it very clear to the employees that we are new and wants more assistance in selection of acoustic guitar and has a budget limit of under $500. None of the clerks had any patience to stay more than 30 seconds with us, much less show my son the details of the guitars. After grabbing 4 different clerks to finally get us a range of guitars in the size that fits my son, we narrowed it down to 2 guitars. I double checked the price tags on both guitars and they were the same price at $490. So my son pick one over the other based on sounds and feel. I asked the clerk if it came with a case or if we had to buy a case. The clerk took it to the counter to check and came back to tell me that it does come with a gig case, but for the price of $600. I didn't think the case would cost so much and asked why it was so different from the tag price. The clerk told me there was no tag, that's why he took it to the counter to check. And sure enough, the guitar on the counter no longer has a tag on it. He then "Dared me to prove" that I had ever seen a tag. The clerk at the counter put a new tag on it with $600. I should have just walked away from the situation all together, but since we had already spent so much time selecting the guitar and I didn't have any more time to go to another store, and my son loves the guitar, I bought it. On my way home, I looked up the store webpage, and it lists a new model of the guitar I purchased at $600 and a used version at $475. I called back the store and asked how could I tell if the guitar I had just bought was new or used, if it could be tracked by the serial number on the guitar. The clerk on the phone said that they actually don't track their inventory by guitar serial number, so there wouldn't be a way to tell (Other than looking for obvious signs of wear?). This whole experience leaves a bad taste in my mouth. In best case, the guitar was mislabeled and was truly a new one at $600. If this is the case, it was simply bad manner to not simply apologize for the mistake and demand to put the burden of proof on the customer that she didn't imagine things. Worst case scenario, I paid the price of new guitar for a used one. If case, apparently based on their attitude, the burden of proof is also on me as they have no way to track or prove either way. I guess if you are an expert, you'd probably appreciate their stock and would be duped by them. For me, the saying goes, "fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." Guess I better stick to guitar center or Schmidt music center for my future purchase.

Today, TTG helped my friend afford a new guitar for her daughter for Christmas. I hugged my friend as she got teary and told me this was the first year she could afford to buy her girls gifts and not have to rely on Toy's For Tots. It was a wonderful feeling for us all. Truly a gift to South Minneapolis. Great service! Welcoming and friendly!

Wonderful people at Twin Town, one of the most amazing small businesses in South Minneapolis. If you are a musician or would like to become one... Twin Town is the best of the best. Great selection, great lesson program, and great people.
