Reviews
It's with a small amount of disbelief that I am writing this review because if history is a predictor of future behavior, I would have quit the studio long ago and never bothered to write a review. After 2 years of showing up at Uncle Joe's Studio, two times a week, I can tell you it has been worth every bit of my time and money. Curiosity brought me to private pilates lessons because I have always struggled with going to a traditional gym and group exercise. Getting motivated on my own just was not working. I knew nothing about pilates and purposefully watched no videos of what to expect for a workout. I entered the studio with a beginner's mind. And it was not the only studio I entered. I checked out a few in New Orleans and Metairie -- Uncle Joe's is by far the best environment for me. Let me tell you why -- At Uncle Joe's I have a caring, supportive, cheerful environment that puts me at ease. I go in, listen to what my teacher Aimee tells me to do, and I do it to the best of my abilities. It takes all of my concentration to do the workout; therefore, it is not a very chatty session. Though we get a bit of socializing in before or after the lesson which I appreciate. I sometimes overhear the laughter and back and forth between other teachers and students. If you look at Uncle Joe's website you'll notice the teachers have been there a long time, it's a stable work environment for them, and they genuinely like one another. If you look at their social media accounts, you'll see they like to have fun too. That says a lot about the feeling and functionality of the studio -- runs smoothly, is always clean, the teachers substitute for each other so you never have to miss a lesson and you'll be asked about it in advance, it's a very positive workout environment, they adjust the workout to accommodate physical injuries, and always deliver an effective, and sometimes exhausting, workout. This isn't a sexy pilates photo, I know. I bought this hiking shirt over 10 years ago even though I was busting through the buttons I bought it anyway to function as a loose layer over a tee-shirt. It offered good cover for my shoulders and arms on hikes in the Northeast where I used to live. Recently I took it out of the closet, and what do you know, it fits when buttoned! I could not believe it and immediately snapped a photo and sent to friends. I used to fill in this top, all around, and I can tell you I haven't been on any big diets recently or in the distant past. The pilates workouts at Uncle Joe's have reshaped my body. I'm much more hourglass. I've lost fat on my back, around my ribs, and around my waist. My belly and legs are toner. And I'm not even close to being finished with the reshaping. The hiking shirt really tells my story, even though I could feel other clothes fitting better, this particular piece of clothing was the eye-opener that my body truly has changed. I notice the changes in much more subtle ways too -- in and out of the bathtub & on and off ground are now much easier. I'm a 1/2" taller according to my doctor was measured without shoes. When I'm going about my daily routines I use what I've been taught in pilates -- how to hold my body, I practice better posture when sitting, driving a car, walking down the street. These are the types of behaviors that promote mobility and flexibility as we age. If you're looking for any of these things too, go to Uncle Joe's Studio.
Love this studio. Friendly and dedicated staff ready to listen and set up a program designed specifically for my needs. Would highly recommend.
I love the staff, the cleanliness of the space and I feel safe in their hands as pilates instructors.
Best Pilates studio in the city!
