I signed for the 23-24 school year for a 4 person, 2 bed shared room. The two rooms were like shoe boxes and so much smaller than what we toured/were promised. You have to put your desk in your closet. There is no room for a walkway, when I would be sitting at my desk my roommate couldn’t even walk past me due to lack of space. Our two beds were touching. If my roommate and I were tall, we’d literally be touching toes when we slept. You can bunk the beds, but there would still be no room, and bunked beds really isn’t the safest idea for college students. I included a picture of our room for those thinking of signing for this layout, because students should be made aware that the model for this room is bigger than what you’ll actually get. picture was taken from the very corner of the room - so yes, that’s really how much space you’ll have to share. We tried to make the best of it, but once we moved in, there were knats, broken appliances, shower issues, etc. Our most recent problem has been roaches. We have friends in UV who all have the same issues. With all of that being said, there are pros, like the location. I always felt safe living here which made the cons feel better at the end of the day. The office workers are really nice and did fun little things for the residents. Marcuz is really awesome and helpful. The security guards are nice and a plus as well. All of these pros made my time at UV more enjoyable, but ultimately because of the above issues, we did not resign.
I had mold in my toilet for months. I put in a maintenance request and someone came in, looked at it and walked out. Another person came and did the same thing. It took months for them to finally clean it. That being said, they clearly don’t care about the health of their residents. Our dishwasher was also FILLED with mold and moldy water keep in mind we have NEVER used the dishwasher The maintenance team along with management don’t care about you or your health, just your money. They charged me rent twice multiple times as well. Would not recommend living here.
I was able to tour University Village today despite the leasing office being closed today. The staff and security desk were super accommodating, polite, and kind. Regina Posadas, the leasing manager, provided me with a tour of University Village, and it was very informative and a pleasant experience!
My daughter just moved in and has had maintenance issues that have yet to be addressed. They were noted on her move in form and also work orders have been placed. Also, the trash on her floor was into the hallway there was so much. She is enjoying the experience despite the maintenance issues. She likes the free printing and gym. The laundry on her floor was broken and she had trouble finding another open washer. We will see what her experience is like going forward.
I just want to start off by saying how wonderful and accommodating University Village has been though this tough time. If you are a college student worried about roommates, room transfers and so on, please give University Village a try and read my experience. To keep it short, what happened was I got Covid-19 in December from my inlaws. I ended up hospitalized from complications with covid, healed and recovered. After 3 months and a negative covid test, I wanted to go back and live whatever was remaining of my senior year at Temple University. Even though I wasn’t contagious, fully recovered, did not lead an irresponsible lifestyle, and it’s been a full 90 days since any covid symptom, my roommates are international students and are coming from a different cultural background. They made it clear that because I got hospitalized for covid, they held a deep sense of stigma against me for a virus I had no control over and believed somehow I was still contagious because I was hospitalized for severe covid a full 3 months ago. A very long story short, it was not going to work out, it’s my last semester, I’m not going to waste the time I have left trying to reason with them nor am I going to move back and then they would be uncomfortable and I would be uncomfortable. I reached out to the staff and Jorden through an email and explained the situation. She was very kind and understanding and went through with a transfer right away. It took about a week and within the next week, I transferred out of my old room and moved to a much better unit with a really sweet roommate. As stressful as it has been to go through the move mid semester, Jorden and the staff made this as not stressful as possible. I later found out from my new roommate that Jorden actually visited the different rooms available for me and really went out of her way to make sure our lifestyles matched and that the unit I was moving into was very nice and clean. I have to say through all of this, University Village, especially Jorden really went above and beyond to not only help me find a new room, but they helped me match with a wonderful roommate and a good environment. Thank you Jorden, all of the staff, and University Village!
First impression was terrible. They told me that my room was ready and everything was cleaned before my arrival. When I entered the room and the common areas of the unit, it was disgusting. The guy who was there before me left his clothes on the table. The dishwasher could not be used. The bathroom was disgusting and nothing was cleaned. I will post pictures. In addition, my roommate was not the cleanest person and was not very considerate. It was not possible to change the room on any occasion.... Another bad experience was the card on the washing machine. I bought one where I had some credit to pay for the washing machine and one day my card didn't work, I don't know why. So I asked if there was anything they could do about it, that I had money on it and it just stopped working. They said there was nothing we could do about it, they said sorry. So that was just another example of how they handle some things. Now something about our little friends the cockroaches. They were throughout the unit a very pleasant experience . The air conditioning/heather was also very loud. Also, I left the unit early so I was still paying for rent but I thought I wouldn't have to pay for utilities since I'm not there and I don't use gas, water, etc. No, you have to pay and it's not about money, it's just about attitude, principle, the way how they handle the thing. The good thing about UV I think was the people who lived there and one not the biggest common area.
Genuinely the worst experience of my entire life. The rooms are trashed. Nothing works dishwasher, sink, etc.. The entire place constantly smells of weed. There is trash in the hall ways. The trash rooms get so full you can’t even get into the room itself. The walls are so thin you can hear everything and I mean EVERYTHING your roommates are doing. If you’re thinking about subletting your lease, forget about it. Impossible to find someone and University village is less than helpful. I’m still paying for a room I don’t even live in anymore and it’s absolutely ridiculous. The only thing that is nice about the place is the gym, the way you get your mail, and the basketball courts. Other than what I just listened, stay FAR AWAY from university village. On top of all this, if you value your sleep do not live here. If you live on the side where the train passes every 15 mins, it sounds like the polar express is driving through your apartment. Actually unbearable to sleep. Also can you see in the dark, use eco location? Because UV has been renting to BATS with the lack of lights they provide in the apartment. Run away please I beg you, I read the reviews before renting thinking it couldn’t be that bad, I promise you it is.
This is the first time I’m writing a review on Google but I feel this is necessary. University Village is the worst place to live. I would never recommend that anyone live in this apartment complex. My closet was ruined by severe water leaks 3 times. 3 TIMES AND THEY DID NOTHING. The management is horrible and the maintenance is terrible. All they do is pinch you of every penny you have and do nothing. I can’t believe I signed here. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT sign here. I can tolerate a lot but this place was horrible. I had to throw out $1000 worth of clothes and personal belongings. Moldy and disgusting!
Living here was sincerely disappointing. I had gnats when I first moved in and now ants. The office staff do not care about you. They really just want your money. I can’t wait to leave!
If I could give this place 0 stars I would! First of all it’s just disgusting. I had gnats everywhere when I first moved in and there’s tiny ants everywhere. I kill about 10 a day. Not to mention it’s $5 to do a load of laundry. The office has never been helpful they’re all money hungry and useless.
