UP, a rooftop lounge

Definitely a cool atmosphere and a great view. We were greeted immediately and the friendly bartender allowed me and my friend to taste 3 different wines before choosing the one we liked. The pour was very generous, too, which we very much appreciated. It were a little disappointed that the rooftop area was closed for a private party but it was still very cool inside. The fact that we received great service made up for the fact that we couldn’t go outside like we had planned. Definitely check this place out, free valet parking for visitors.

UP has a decent beer selection, good cocktails, and a limited food menu. Service can be spotty, but it is always pleasant when you actually get it. We were in town for a wedding and staying in the hotel underneath this establishment. Having never stayed in The Gulch before, I honestly thought I was in a wasteland of light Industrial buildings. It wasn't until we rode the elevator skyward to UP that I saw (good views from up there!) That there were all kinds of places within easy walking distance. Although we hit all of those other places during our stay, we always ended up back here. Very comfortable place to hang out, if you can find someplace to alight. It was very busy during random times, as the ebb and flow of people came and went. Or went and came, as the case may be. Gotta be grammatically accurate. Although I was generally satisfied with the service, you end up going to try to find people to get your next drink. So, minus one star for that. The food also was thoroughly mediocre. But still, we enjoyed it. Give it a go.

View is great. Everything else is actually pretty bad. I went for the view knowing that many reviewers had had poor experiences with the service and food. I sat down at a table and after about 20 minutes flagged down our server to order some food. At this point the server informs us that the frier is broken and thus there are only 3 food items available - not 3 entrees, but 3 items total - some bread, some grilled cheese bites, and some tuna salad (the only entree). Apparently couldn't even order a burger, which is what my wife and I both wanted. As the server listed the 3 items, I told the server we'd like a few minutes, and I was considering just leaving. Up had other plans, however, as the server had mistakenly put us down for an order of one of the items (understandable as it was a bit hard to hear), and we did not even realize we were getting food until the server came back and mentioned it was almost ready. Despite only 3 items being available and us not being informed of this when we came in and were given menus, no one offered any sort of discount or even much in the way of apologies - the server apologized but the manager who stopped by our table twice did not. All of the service was very nice but the restaurant part of this place was not well done at all. Three stars instead of 1 or 2 because of the view.

Here before a Predator playoff game. View is amazing. Waited 15 minutes to be asked for orders and place not crowded. Servers don’t seem to really have a strategic plan or any consistency.

Cool place to stop by. It was a bit crowded and the drinks were not anything special, but nice views. Also has heaters for when it gets chilly at night, which was nice.
