Visited during memorial day weekend. Friendly staff and rangers. Part of the tour route was closed due to erosion. We started in the visitor center first and talked to a park ranger. If we didn't we would not have known about the closure until we would have to turn around on a one way road. They could use some signs by the turn off out there on the route. The parking lot is on the small side but did have oversize vehicle spots that accommodate RVs (taking up two of those spots.) a very informative visitor center display, some amazing views, and a nice drive await. This site also has a Jr ranger program booklet for kids to complete if interested.

The folks working here are a fountain of knowledge. They were extremely friendly, courteous and a genuine pleasure to talk to. They made my time in Vicksburg all the more enjoyable.

This is a nice visitor center. It's well maintained. Located on the Mississippi, it's view is breathtaking.

Place needs some care to grassy areas and patking facilities. Dtaff helpful yet only in Visitor Center. This area is huge and no staff around it. Im told the Supt. is not community oriented and unwilling to work with civil war groups. The battlefield has so so much wonderful history and is a fascinating place.

Would of liked to walked the tour so we could of read all of the plaques. Didn't have time so drove around and got the information from one if several ways to do the tour.
