We ordered a lot of meat chicken shrimp and everyone enjoyed. All of these are well cooked. was chicken filled with rice which was new to me. Pigeon was nice we ordered two and finished them. Fish was fresh too. The only thing matters might be that it is a little expensive.
Don’t overlook this Cantonese seafood hideout by its unassuming frontage on the Commonwealth Ave. Besides a lack of natural light on the inside, you’d find everything you want from an authentic Chinese diner that’s perfect for friends’ gathering or a day-to-day cafeteria. The waiters here are personable and efficient. The price point is ethical. And the dishes…you definitely won’t be complaining. Since the day I discovered this place, I can’t help but including it into my weekly frequent list. For the number of unique yet authentic Cantonese dishes that they offer, it’s gonna take a while before I can exhaust all.
Decent casual spot for Chinese food. It was quite the experience getting an 8 pound lobster for the table. It was fine but definitely not worth the exorbitant price. The meat to shell ratio was not in our favor and I think because of how big the lobster was, the flavor just didn’t penetrate into the meat as much as it should have. The experience of breaking down a massive sea creature made the experience worth it but never again! Peking duck was also not particularly exciting. Lots of skin and not a lot of meat. The beef + ginger and onion hot pot was pretty good but had way too much ginger. Like I’m pretty sure there were several layers of it at the bottom. Not a huge problem because I love ginger but it could have used more meat!
Good lunch specials and fast service. I've been coming to Victoria Seafood for 20 years, back when it had twin lobster specials for $9.95. July 2022: Update: Victoria Seafood came under new ownership in 2020, according to one of the employees I asked. This explains why I see one of the former waiters working in another restaurant. The food is still good, but the lunch specials are now $12.95. The furniture and carpeting are the same. The restaurant is no longer Cantonese, but more Mandarin style. No more soy sauce and homemade chili oil on the tables. On the plus side, the restaurant accepts American Express now. The first 6 photos are from the old restaurant. The rest are from July 2022. With tip, I spent $17 on lunch. The hot and sour soup and the general Gao's chicken were both good. The service was better than under the previous owner.i
The food is nice, it’s just that they would mix up with your order. The clay pot rice is a must to order! Only 3 stars because they got two of our orders wrong.
Very well run, popular establishment. Fast & feel-good service. Food is decent for the price but seems to lack the heartiness and the “touch” to put it over the top.
Ive been coming here for years. Love the spicy salted fried calamari and poached chicken with ginger & scallions. So many food options and good for big and small parties. The lobster dishes and whole steamed/fried fish are also wonderful. Vegetarian options such as Tao Miao are also great.
Every dish we ordered was perfect, especially the sticky rice-stuffed chicken wingsneed to be pre-ordered
Authentic Cantonese dishes best one outside Chinatown. Hard to find parking around the area. Price is bit high.Recommended dishesTwin Lobster Spicy Salt, Fried Rice with Chinese Sausage
The Chinese food was interesting. They made special dishes that you don’t usually get or see at other Chinese restaurants. The dishes were mildly flavored, if you are someone who likes light taste then this is the restaurant for you. I prefer something more tasty and full of stronger flavor. Overall, service was excellent and food was 7/10.
