Among the Best Veterinary Hospitals in Toronto. I have bringing My Cats to Dr.G.Toole here for 16 years. He is a Shining Example of Professional Knowledge, Gentle Patient Emergency Care as well as Hands-on Follow-ups whether the "Patient" is Recovering In House or at Home. The Other Staff I have known/come to know over the years have always provided Professional and Courteous Service as well. I highly recommend V.G.A H. to Anyone seeking the services of Veterinary Professionals. Many Thanks to a Great Team!
There is a serious lack of communication between the staff and the veterinarian which puts the welfare of the animals at risk. The doctor prescribed medication for us and ordered us to give our puppy a certain amount of ml per day, among other instructions. Long story short, it turned out that instead of informing us that it was 1.5 ml a day, they wrote down in the instructions 20 ml by mistake. We went to complain in person to avoid this mistake with future patients. Unfortunately it was taken as an isolated incident that I don't consider it to be. The staff have absolutely no knowledge of the place, rules or instructions, and it seems as though they don't deliver the messages to the doctor. I also called in advance asking about the prices and the receptionist gave me the wrong information. At the time of having the consultation, it turned out to be double the price of what was initially stated to me over the phone. Overall my experience has not been a pleasant one. Terrible customer service.
Dr. Geoff is so patient and gentle with our fussy senior cat. When she had an injury that required surgery, he quickly referred us to a specialist and she was well taken care of, including follow up at Village Gate. The support staff are professional, friendly, and fearless holding down a very unhappy, growly cat, and the price for her food is very reasonable. We've had an overall excellent experience since starting with Village Gate 6 years ago.
The WORST vet I’ve ever been to. My dog was a patient for 2 years and every time we went we were heavily overcharged. I had an emergency with my dog not to long ago and they wanted to charge me $4000~ for an unnecessary surgery as well as multiple exams that would just bring pain to my dog. Their handling of animals is very inadequate as they would make my dog cry and whimper every time they handled him. It wasn’t until I went to another vet to get a second opinion that I found out that they were mis-diagnosing my dog, just to get more money from us. And to clarify, the new vet did not make my dog feel any pain whatsoever with the handling, and they only charged us $300 to solve the issue. Overall Village Gate is an abusive, money driven establishment, with a huge lack of professionalism and overall human decency. Avoid this place if you want to spare your dog any pain, and if you wanna save a few extra thousand dollars
I’m very disappointed and angry with this clinic. First of all, Their service and meds are expensive , but their pet food has a really good price btw Second of all, they almost made my cat a depressed vegetable! My cat had a urinary problem before, I noticed that she started spotting and took her to this clinic for a check up. I also mentioned, that I recently had a baby which might of cause a stress for my cat which triggered her spotting. Doctor prescribed meds antidepressant and some urinary care pills to my cat, assuming it will help. Using those meds made my cat a vegetable !!I used them only for 2 days , she was just lying all the time, and would not move and once she fell in her own pee. I got so scared and told doctor what those meds did to my cat, he just said “ stop using them”!!! When analysis came in, he called and said that he doesn’t see anything they are normal. Clinic did not accept the meds back I spent $60 for. Why couldn’t we wait for analysis to come in?! It was my fault also, I should have told them to wait. What’s done is done
Dr. Toole and every member of the staff at VGAH cares for Zoe with tremendous patience, compassion, expertise, and flexibility. Zoe appears to be on the mend after a very intense week of concern and worry, and it is due to Dr. Toole’s and the staff’s care, kindness, and knowledge. Thank you so very much. It is hard to put the gratitude and relief into words.
I took my dog as a last minute resort could not get into my normal vet. They wanted to charge me $1100 for a $400 procedure. I waited a few days and went to my normal vet. The fee to be seen was also $125 which I think is quite high. Very nice staff and the vet seemed very kind, but the pricing is crazy.
The receptionist is absolutely terrible. Called two days ago and she took a message for Dr. Toole to give me a call. She said he would call be end of day. It’s been two days, and I followed up this morning. She doesn’t remember what the message was even though she took down all my contact details. I’m sorry, is it not the receptionist’s job to take a message and inform the doctor in a timely manner? Her excuse was she gets a lot of phone calls, okay but did you not write down my details. Terrible.
WARNING: DO NOT GO TO THIS VET IF YOU CARE ABOUT THE HEALTH OF YOUR DOG. If I could give zero stars I would! Dr. Toole misdiagnosed our boxer poppy with a rare genetic disease and overlooked to what other veterinarians was an obvious, breed-related issue. This negligence led to our dog getting medication she didn't need for months, which made her even more sick, and Dr. Toole was never willing to reconsider whether he had made the right diagnosis. Thank heavens we switched to McGilvray where she was properly re-diagnosed. Leaving Village Gate Animal Hospital saved my dog's life.
