This restaurant is amazing. First we were great by their amazing staff who sat us promptly and took our orders. Food came out quick and it was very fresh and delicious! It's been hard to find something nearly as good since being in Japan, but this really hit the spot! I'd highly recommend coming early we came as soon as they opened. Because they fill up very quickly.
This is my new favorite spot. I loved everything about this place. Great service and atmosphere. But the food was the star of the show. Incredibly delicious sushi and sashimi, crispy veggie tempura and amazing ramen. The broth was packed with flavor, and I added more pork - totally worth it. I really enjoyed the Japanese sour drink. I also love how they have a grocery store attached to it, which was also wonderful. I purchased more of the sour drink that I had at the restaurant there. This place is 10/5 solid gold, and I can't wait to come back!
I was surprised that the atmosphere was so good, and there were a lot of people even though I went a little past lunchtime. Parking is free behind the building but limited spot. Black tonkotsu ramen was delicious but a bit salty. I want to come back again to try another menu soon :
We like to try different noodle houses from different regions. This place feels very traditional. You can usually judge a places authenticity by the ethnicity of the clientele. When I see alot of Japanese people around me...I know I am in the right place. Ordered the Tokontzu Black combo and the broth was great! I also was jealous about the sushi that our neighbors had and when I will return we will test it out. Make sure that you visit the little grocery store in the basement to find some Japanese items and snacks. There is additional parking out back just in case you are having troubles finding some. Thank you for a nice dinner.
The sushi and udon combos are perfect for a quick lunch. This spot is pretty popular so you may have to wait a few minutes for an available table during lunch hours. The udon was chewy and the broth was delicious. The sushi had great fish to rice ratio and the fish was fresh.
Best restaurant I visited in Atlanta! Disclaimer: I've never had authentic Japanese food at a restaurant before. Loved the menu composition—familiar favorites like ramen, sushi and katsu curry are represented alongside less commonly seen rice and noodle dishes. The restaurant mirrored that same vibe—J pop blasts out of the speakers, but the restaurant itself is minimally decorated and has primarily wood furnishings. We ordered the agedashi tofu & mochi $7 as well as the chicken nanban $7 for appetizers. Both were delicious. The nanban is the best chicken karaage we've ever had—the sauces were great, but the breading was what made it stand out. The agedashi tofu is a must try in my book. I love the broth they serve it with and the textural changes that it undergoes as you leave it to absorb more liquid. Delicious! I ordered the salmon ikura chazuke $21—expensive!. It was worth every penny for the experience and quality of the food. I'm not well versed in Japanese cuisine, but I'd recently read a Recipe Tin Japan post about ochazuke recipes. They sounded delicious, so when I saw this menu item, I knew I had to try it. The salmon itself is very delicately flavored, as is the rice. But it all comes together when you pour in the thick, extremely umami dashi broth it's served with. The rice absorbs the flavor and compliments the richness of the salmon. And the salmon roe adds little umami bombs throughout the dish. Even after you finish the salmon, the remaining rice is just as delicious because the roe adds so much flavor. My partner ordered the chicken katsu curry, not pictured. He said it was delicious, and agreed that this was the best restaurant we'd been to all trip. I'm so excited to come back and tour the menu here!!! I tried it based on a Japanese reviewer's experience, so thanks to them for their review.
Everything was absolutely delicious let's just say if I come back to ATL, 100% will return bc I want to try the ramen , katsu curry, katsudon, this place has so much to offer. I'm not a roll person but still enjoy all of them and love the sashimi, very fresh and good selection from tuna, salmon, yellowtail to mackerel. One of the rolls we ordered used the flames and another roll with smoke effect which both definitely helped with the overall presentation!
Authentic Japanese dishes with reasonable price! Service was great, food came out fast! Every thing is fresh and delicious. Love the nigiris! One of the best Japanese restaurant in Atlanta imo.
Great tempura and variety of meat. The only think I didn't like was the soup. Btw, be careful if you order something spicy e.g., spicy tuna, you'll get what you asked for : Vegetarian options: Several alternatives for veggie food and quite tasty
If you love japanese food, and you love anime music.... If you aren't eating here or at Ginya Izakaya, you're making a mistake. Everything on the menu is fantastic. Sake choices could be a bit better, but there's enough variety to find something you like.
