They have an exceptionally bad billing department that is consistent only in how terrible it is. Customer service skills are the worst of any company I have ever dealt with. As soon as you finally reach someone on the phone, you're treated to rude conduct, confrontational responses to relevant questions, and readily apparent laziness in addressing issues. I spoke with a supervisor about 2 years ago for an explanation on why I was billed for something that my insurance said that it shouldn't have been billed at all. The woman had no answer for me and said, "if you have such a problem with paying, you shouldn't come to Western Connecticut doctors anymore." A supervisor said this!
More recently, I asked a question a representative for an explanation of a specific charge that I was receiving bills for though I had already paid it 2 months prior. This woman said that she didn't have that information and that she would have to check through two months of activity to figure out what was going on. I told her that was fine since this had been one of two transactions that had occurred over the previous months. She was incredulous that I wanted her to check: "you really want me to look through your account for the past two months?" She huffed and puffed when I said yes, but she then said that she would call me back by the end of the day with the answer. It has been over 10 months since that conversation, and no return phone call.
The care offered by Western CT Medical Group doctors is adequate, but in private conversations, I find that doctors and nurses have been less than happy with management at the company. Perhaps it is a similar reason that their billing dept is so poor. When people at the top of a for-profit company don't care about the people at the bottom - including its patients - that bad attitude tends to trickle through the entire organization.
So disappointing, particularly from a medical group that at one time was among the best in the Northeast.

In 2015, their New Canaan office was chaotic. Receptionist was cranky, phones didn't work, computers weren't connected, appointment dates lost, patient info misplaced, billing incomprehensible.
My exam? Once the day finally arrived, patients had to walk through a crowded reception area carrying their freshly filled urine samples back to the examination room. After winding my way through the throng (weakly smiling at those I asked to pass) I got the joke.
One star is too many. My recommendation; run -- don't walk -- away.

They did absolutely NOTHING for my mother when she had a problem with her hands, and as a result, her hands got worse. Thanks for doing NOTHING, scumbags. All you care about is money, money, money. You robbed some of our money and did NOTHING. I will never receive service from you, and I will tell all my friends about your terrible service. You guys are HORRIBLE and LOW CLASS. Doctors, go get recertified. Go back to school and learn a DAMN thing or two over again.
