Thank you Westminster Canterbury on the Chesapeake Bay thanks to. The service there is impeccable. The food is superb. My mother spent weeks there in rehab. She didn't want to leave. I couldn't believe it now. She's 90 years old and that's all she thinks about is going back there for assisted living and to live out her life care. It's absolutely superb. The best service ever. I'm 72. I'm an only child and that sounds like a place for me. Also mother and son. Thank you again...
After looking at many life plan communities, my husband and I moved here 8 years ago. The lifestyle is as active as anyone wants it to be, the residents are friendly and caring, the food is delicious, upper management is smart and transparent, plus the team members employees are extremely kind and understanding. The location is even beachfront! We are overjoyed to be here and feel blessed to have found this wonderful place!!!
I had the amazing ability as a junoir in highschool to shadow a couple nurses that worked in the Hoy Center at Westminster - Canterbury. My hopes were to see if nursing is my future dream job. From the experience I had, I not only can say I see and want to work in the nursing field, but I saw and heard advice from the nurses I was shadowing that gave me great info moving forward. I also got to meet some of the residences who were the sweetest, most encouraging people you will ever meet and just would simply make you smile being in their presence. The staff was so friendly and it was amazing and honestly cool how they knew each and every resident that they took care of down to their name and even added sweet words of encouragement. For anyone that is thinking of Westminster for themselves or their loved ones, I have a high ranking for this environment. The nurses and staff respected the residents and never looked down upon the ones they were caring for. That was important ro me. Thank you Westminster for an amazing experience and now I can definitely say having been there, I want to be a nurse and have the ability to change lives for the better.
Applied for a job. Was contacted & did the online interview questions, they contacted all of my references & set up a phone interview with the recruiter on Monday @ 9:30am. No one called or emailed till 9:45 to reschedule. New date was set for the following day at 4pm. The worst time of day for me as my kids etc are all home but I agreed and went out to sit in my car at that time to do the interview. 4:00 came and went and I never received a phone call or email. Extremely unprofessional and inconsiderate. I can only imagine how they treat actual employees if this is how they waste potential employee time. I’m taking it as a sign that I dodged a bullet here!
Mind blowing, cruel and unusual, heartless dining room. People over 90 don’t have many birthdays left. Beachfront Dining Room callously ruined their residents’ bday gathering. They don’t care that any guests traveled 3K miles to be treated so poorly, citing a random policy that we cannot find in any updated state codes. They refused to seat 11 of us at a table that could clearly fit 11. The view throughout dinner was of the large empty table that we asked nicely for. Some staff tried and the director, David, did not care that it was our Grandmother’s birthday. I don’t think any staff even said Happy Birthday to her. We were split up in two tables and denied visiting with family who we rarely see. Worst dining experience ever. This was only one example of quite a growing list of major disappointments.
Update: the evil gets worse. After treating us so horribly for her bday, she attended a luncheon at the same place where 11 ppl sat at the same table. There wasn’t even a policy after all? Update: Just Wow. Abusive. Depressing. Grandmother’s Birthday dinner at the “high end” restaurant involved refusing to seat our party of 11 together at a table that clearly fits 11. Had guests from the west coast here briefly who we don’t hardly ever see. With a straight face several staff refused to let us sit together. We are beyond amazed at the poor treatment, especially for how overpriced this place is. 2nd Star removed. Also they don’t bother telling residents when a bus trip to a store is canceled, and provide no explanation. Original review two weeks prior: I hate to do this as we had high hopes, but my grandmother moved in recently and the list of disappointments keeps growing. Will gladly delete or update this review if things improve. They rushed her into paying quite a lot for a place that wasn’t even ready. They tried to make her pay to correct the flooring to what was originally agreed upon. That was a stressful, upsetting hassle to deal with and borderline abusive to treat an elderly person this way. After all that hassle, padding under the carpet was never added or even discussed. As if it wasn’t stressful enough relocating and handing over an entire fortune, there have been several hassles. Cleaning service that was paid for has not been happening. Calls to clinic were not returned for several days. One outing activity was listed in such a confusing way that not enough people signed up so the outing was conveniently canceled. It’s hard to believe that out an entire building of hundreds of elderly people, so few are interested in attending a symphony. The list goes on. I realize everyplace has had service level plummets lately and there’s no excuse to accept such exorbitant amounts of money for this to be the case at Westminster too. The 2nd star is that the food is very good although the service has been very hit and miss. Fortunately that seems to be improving.
My sister was here for a month and loved it. The rooms were big private rooms with their own shower. They were also very clean. The food was good and there was a separate menu for all day. I was very pleased!
Wish I could leave 0 stars. They don’t listen nor respect their employees. It seems so promising in the beginning but they will suck the life out of you the longer you stay. If you want management that doesn’t listen, overworks you, hires incompetent people, and gives you broken equipment this is the place for you.
Don’t apply here unless you want to experience racism, that we be swept under the rug, due to them being short staffed. Not to mention the reminders of how before Covid it was so hard to get in. So be lucky you here attitude. The nurses will walk right passed a call light as if this job don’t require teamwork.
Unqualified management that can't even do the work that they're asking employees to do. It's like they all paid their way to the top and just sit in an office all day and bark orders. When issues get brought up, HR states that they know, but don't do anything about it.
