The best BBQ in town, used to love Rudy's, but this is a lot better, by far. Wanted to try a little 1/2 lbs of everything and I wasn't disappointed... I was told there is another location in town, got to try that one too, but I have found my happy place..
Craving some Southern comfort food? Here’s your place. I had a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and sweet tea. Meat was moist, tender, delicious. Choice of 6 barbecue sauces, from traditional vinegar to molasses to Old South mustard-style!
Local BBQ chain. Tasty with good size portions. The stuffed potato is amazing. Ribs are ok, nothing to die for. The sauces six varieties range from tangy to sweet with this amazing mustard base one that is great! Worth stopping by for all but their cobbler should have listened to their checkout girl.
Came here in a lunch date and it was just perfect! She had a burger and I got the barbeque pulled chicken nachos and it was all fantastic, as was the customer service and the food was served faster than I expected. Highly recommend!
I was very surprised to find everything very very tender and delicious. I love a good barbecue, but I had my doubts after seeing their lower prices. But the rolls were soft and not stale, the pork, while charred, wasn't burnt or stiff. It had just enough fat to make it soft and flavorful, but not too much to be chewy. Perfectly cooked meat. And the side are phenomenal. Everything was delicious and had its own distinct twist, like sour cream in the potato salad. It wasn't your ordinary chili's level potato salad, it was good. I would definitely eat here again and definitely recommend if you love western barbecue.
Came here with a big group for lunch. It was busy, but food was quick. I ordered the brisket/sausage combo and it was incredible. The brisket has more fat on it than what I prefer, but the taste was on point. I'm not taking a star off because I know there are a lot of people who prefer to have that fat on their brisket for the taste. The sausage was SO AMAZING we ordered another pound to take back to the office to snack on in the afternoon. I love that there are 6 different sauces to choose from, ranging from spicy, to tangy, to sweet. They were all amazing. I am more of a spicy person and the #3 sauce was my absolute favorite. I highly recommend Whole Hog on Central. You will not be disappointed.
Love that Whole Hog opened up a second location. Great place for some barbecue. I appreciate that they have a variety of barbecue sauces at each table. It can get really busy, but they do an excellent job of getting the food out quickly. I highly recommend the pulled pork sandwich!
Wow. First time in. Slow time right at 6 pm on a Wednesday. Place is only open til 2 for lunch and then opens again 5-8 or until they sell out. Yep. Their BBQ is SO good they frequently sell out of all their meats. I had the jumbo Pulled pork platter. Hubby had same of the brisket. Sides were good and 6 selections of the homemade sauces offered sweets, bold and vinegar based. Location on Central is easy to get to. Parking on back off side street. Many of the colorful locals wander outside. Free entertainment.
I was excited to go to Whole Hog Cafe because of the overwhelmingly positive reviews, however, I was highly disappointed with my visit. I went on a weeknight at about 6PM. The rolls we were served were stale, hard and dry. The ribs had very little meat and you could tell they sat for a while as it tasted like jerky. The brisket was alright, but the wife thought it was chewy. The pulled pork was alright, but not a ton of flavor. After ordering our food was delivered about 5 minutes after, so you know it had been sitting for a while. For being dinner time, I didn't expect to eat old stale food. How does a BBQ joint provide stale rolls, at a very minimum they should have fresh rolls even if their BBQ food wasn't fresh off the grill. Very low effort and highly dissatisfied.
Six different sauces to try and I love them all. I think the #2 and the mustard ones are my personal favorite. My companion likes the sweet and thick one best. The mac n cheese was okay but a little mild. The brisket was delightful and my companion raved about the pulled pork. Nice thick pieces of brisket on the sandwich, which was more than enough. We'll be back. Cute diner decor, too
