This place seriously disappointed me and my family. My mom has COPD and has been a patient at Willow Creek in the past (5 years ago). She recently was admitted to the hospital for COPD exacerbation. While in the hospital she lost a lot of strength and we went to Willow Creek for the therapy as we had done 5 years prior. Well this time around they have built a new wing strictly for rehabilitation patients. I thought this visit would be even better than the last visit due to the special new wing. Boy were we mistaken! I, being a health care professional myself, know what is acceptable and what is not. I have the advantage of knowing how things are SUPPOSED to happen. In 3 nights and 4 days my mom’s health declined RAPIDLY! She quit being able to void on her own and instead of having a stand in order to do an in and out catheter to empty her bladder, they had to get an order from an MD. Also the staff said that bc she did have “some” urine on her pad that she was voiding even though she didn’t feel it. They said that for 12 hrs one day and dismissed her saying she wasn’t emptying and she was in pain. When they finally did empty her bladder she had over 900mL of urine in her. I talked with a friend of mine that also happens to be a emergency room physician and he said that was completely unacceptable and could have caused her to go septic! After 2 more days she dealt with the lack of nursing care to be able to get the benefit of their physical and occupational therapy department (which is EXCELLENT and one of the only reasons we ever choose Willow Creek to begin with). Well on a Sunday morning and ambulance was called to Willow Creek by their staff bc my mother’s oxygen level had dropped into the 70’s. When the paramedics got there, they found that my mom was not even hooked up to her oxygen! She had the nasal cannula on her face but someone had unhooked it from the oxygen. Totally unacceptable, especially on a COPD patient. Because of that, my mom had to be readmitted to the hospital, this time to an intensive care unit! Huge set back in her care.
Think twice about sending your loved one to this facility! Their PT and OT department is wonderful but everything else was way below the standard for care.
