Story

Dedicated gratefully and with joy to the men of Delaware and its neighbors, Wright & Simon has for over 75 years built an outstanding men’s clothing store on the cornerstone of their principles:

-- Stressing that good fitting is the first essential to good appearance and makes for maximum customer comfort and satisfaction.

J. Louis Simon, Morris M. Simon, and James H. Wright founded the store in 1935 at 109 West Ninth Street. By 1952, the business was ready for new quarters. The new store, at the present location of 911 North Market Street, was designed as one of the most outstanding stores in the country devoted exclusively to the sale of fine clothing for men. Featuring special emphasis on the comfort and convenience of patrons, the store extends across from Market Street to Shipley Street, with entrances and display windows on both streets. Displays and fitting rooms are on the first floor, with the tailoring and alterations department and the business offices occupying the second floor.

Master tailors, fitters, and alteration experts of high repute and long experience ensure that all work meets the highest expectations of their crafts.
