I have been going to this studio for years and it's been a huge contributor to my overall wellness. Since I enjoy all of the instructors and classes, it is easy to maintain a routine over the long term and I'm much stronger than when I first started barre. It is also a really welcoming and friendly environment for anyone at any level, so it's not intimidating at all. Staff and management is also super nice and responsive and I was very impressed by and grateful for all the ways they were able to adapt through the pandemic. I can't say enough good things about this studio!
I’ve completed 49 class with Pilates Heights and highly recommend coming here. I’m a big fan of Narissa and Kat’s Fusion and Barre classes. They have a full schedule of classes reformer and mat too during the week and are open half days Fri-Sun. I usually go on a weekday so it has worked out well for me. Narissa and Kat do a good job of teaching advanced movements so if you feel like it you can make your workout harder or less hard. I find that the versatility is great for varying skill levels. I never tried barre until this studio and they made it so enjoyable. I feel good after every class : Depending on the time of day classes can be smaller - I find that class is too packed on Fri/Sat mornings so I tend to avoid those times. I prefer to have more room and not worry about hitting the person next to me. Booking is easy in the Walla app and I can cancel up to 12 hours in advance. The receptionist, Maria, has been very communicative via email and friendly in person! She helped me put my membership on hold when I went on vacation. Pros: varying styles instructors, intro offers this is how I started, classmates are respectful, lockers, 2 bathrooms, it’s clean! Cons: depending on the time of day class can be packed, steep staircase up to the studio not sure I saw an elevator but it’s on the first floor.
Finally writing a review after coming here for 7 years! Most importantly, the instruction is top notch. I've taken Pilates classes across the city and the classes here are by far the best--interesting lesson plans that keep you engaged, an emphasis on form and functional movement, and individualized attention and modifications so the class is right for you. It's clear that the studio puts a lot of emphasis on training and quality. Many of the instructors have been there the entire time I've been going, which shows the level of investment that the studio has in them and vice versa. It's a place you can really develop relationships, feel at home, and grow. The front desk staff is also super welcoming, on the ball, and helpful!
I've been coming here for 5 months and I love this place! I tried other studios but this one is by far my favorite - never too crowded and good variety of classes. The instructors are so nice and learn everyone's names. Nicole is a sweetheart! Sad to be leaving New York because I will miss this studio.
This studio is very friendly and all of the instructors are highly skilled and make class accessible to all. My only complaint is the quality of the sound system in the main barre studio is about 1/10. I’ve been coming here for a few years and can’t believe they haven’t upgraded it! It sounds like static noise and makes class way less enjoyable, which is too bad because Kat had such a good playlist today.
My go to studio for a challenging and motivational class! Every class has been a positive experience. The instructors are all fantastic and bring their own style to each class. The staff is always accommodating and welcoming. Highly recommend!
I really like this studio, the staff and instructors are great, and I have enjoyed all the classes I’ve taken so far though some were definitely above my skill level . My only critique is the inability to contact someone in real time. There’s a 5 minute window to be late which is not a lot in a place like NYC especially with often unexpected train delays. While I typically arrive well before class begins, on two occasions I wasn’t sure I would make it in time and there was no way to communicate with anyone, so I had to negotiate whether to cancel or no-show and be charged $20 or hope that I would make it in time or be turned away. Thankfully, both times I made it, but the stress and inability to call and speak to someone was very frustrating. I get moving towards apps and email for the sake of efficiency, but sometimes nothing replaces the ability to call and have contemporaneous communication with a live person.
This studio has been such a coveted part of my weekly routine for 4 years even virtually thru the pandemic!. They recently added reformer and the classes are phenomenal. Pilates Heights has the BEST instructors and the best class selection.
I love this place! It has such a positive community and I adore all the instructors I've had so far. The wide variety and frequency of the classes make it easy to try something new and fit classes into whatever schedule you have. While I was hesitant at first, I have embraced the more cardio focused nature of these barre classes compared to many others I've taken. Overall, if you enjoy Barre and pilates, I highly recommend trying this place out. Nicole is a great instructor choice if you're a beginner!
Pilates Heights is the best! The instructors are engaging, enthusiastic, and very attentive. The studio is doing a great job of balancing in-person and virtual programming. If you want a fun, challenging workout led by amazing instructors, this is the studio for you!
