Great establishment! The rooms have been updated since my last stay. They are very nice and clean and the staff was all super friendly. The casino was large enough that I didn't feel overwhelmed by all the smoke and the crowds. It's one of the few casino that still offers a variety of restaurants too. Even though I do miss the days of the Grand buffets. I would like to the Kansas city casinos revamp the buffet experience and maybe prepare for a soft launch in the future.
I'm so happy I came across this hotel! It was definitely a last minute endeavor as I found it right before we made the drive from Chicago on T-mobile Travel. I didn't book through the site just in case we were too tired and we ended up making it out here just fine. ANYWAYS.. I just have to give *Joyce* a shout out for an effortless check-in experience with probably the best customer service I've ever had. If you catch her, consider yourself lucky! The room we got with a king bed is perfect. It's spacious and has two desk areas for being able to work remotely. I forsee having wonderful service while we stay here if it's anything like the service we received from Joyce.
Casino is nice. Restaurants are okay. Just be advised you are literally paying for everything they offer. Have been here several times and each time the 9 min drive from Argosy lasted longer than $4-500 gambling. So if you’re looking for food and a place to stay A+. If you’re hoping to have a good time gambling you’re 100% at the wrong spot. They don’t even let you play. Bet .01, .05. .10, try every machine and you’ll be lucky to win whatever your bet is before your money is gone
We loved the hotel. Very clean. Other ratings complained of a smell but we thought it smelled fabulous and even asked what they do to make it so. They were very welcoming and helpful at the front desk. We ate at the Great Plains Cattle Company restaurant and highly recommend. We went for a local overnight stay/getaway. I highly recommend it for just that.
Great hotel for gamblers and smokers but no modern amenities like a gym or pool. The rooms are comfortable but the carpet is worn pretty bad in spots. The rooms come with a small refrigerator but no microwave. There are some decent food options in and around the casino floor. The pho place had great spring rolls. There’s plenty of parking but the whole place just has a general smoke smell that lingers in the non-smoking rooms.
Rooms are very clean but the beds are horrible, hard and uneven. Did not get a good night sleep. Took the kids to the family area. It was nice, they had a great time. The fish and chips at the bar and grill is about the best fish I have ever had. It is a must try: so overall a good place, they just need to get new mattresses.
If I could rate no stars I would. Booked a room at the hotel, 2 nights 3 days for my sister and I. The room was nice and clean but the beds were old and lumpy and there was no continental breakfast. Paying 387 bucks for 2 nights was outrages and not worth it in my opinion. The casino.... oh boy! I'll start by saying there was a great variety of machines, but they were super tight. The only decent hits were the people who could afford max bets on the big flashy games thats anywhere from 6 to 10 bucks a spin. Not the place to go to if you don't max bet. Also, there is no food option after midnight anywhere on the premises unless you want to pay 9 bucks for a vending machine sandwich! This was a Saturday night on a holiday weekend. I'll never go back!
Being from Reno casinos don't usually amuse me much after a while of being in Reno and being in soany of them they all start to run together and look the same. But this one was surprisingly very nice the cocktail ladies where quick and ready to serve. They had a live band playing in an open bar several little shops and restaurants. When I was walking out I noticed they had an upstairs also that I'll have to check out next time if there is one!
Went to see Aaron Lewis tonight. Show was amazing. Venue not so much aisles to wide. Chairs scrunched together side by side and no space for legs. Get it together Ameristar! Think about your patrons. How would you feel if you bought tickets?
One of the sous chefs Ronnie happened to be walking by as I was lost and I asked for help for directions to my concert location. He was super friendly, helped us find our way and had great conversation the whole time. That alone makes me want to switch casinos. Good hospitality doesn’t happen often anymore. Thanks, Ronnie!Service: 5/5
