Excellent learning and enlightening experience. I highly recommend that EVERYONE visits this museum, even if your schedule is tight. I was in IA for 3 hours but I was able to make it in, and the full experience can be as short or long as you’d like. Affordable options include student tickets and senior tickets.
We spent the weekend in Iowa City for our daughter’s camp and decided to drive to Cedar Rapids to see the museum. It was well worth the visit. The small museum did a great job of profiling the many contributions African Americans have made in Iowa. I will come back again if we are in the area in the near future.
This museum was incredibly informative, and thorough. It did an excellent job of educating, and having opportunities for people of all ages.
Entrance is $6 but there is a student discount for high school ages. I thought it would be all sad things, but it actually was a perfect mix of things to make you smile and others which made you truly think of the history and significance of black people in the US. Would definitely recommend!
A very well done museum. Highlights the sad stain on our history as a country and the racism that continues today. Also shows progress that has been made, wonderful African traditions and the many contributions of African Americans. Its content should be taught in schools! Definitely worth visiting.
1st time going to this Museum. It was very nice, Education and well organized.
The worker there was inviting and helpful, asking if me and my husband have been there before. The exhibits were amazing as well. We are definently planning on going back again this year.
Great museum! Some really amazing items here and even some about Cedar Rapids's very own, wonderful and amazing Viola Gibson! Also more amazing people from our area! Expect to be here for at least 2 hours or more if you're wanting to look at everything! Weekends always seem to be a great time to visit!
Amazing experience. Learned about never quitting no matter the odds stacked against you! Something everyone should see and enjoy!
So glad I was able to get out and see the "Unwavering: 21st Century Activism" Exhibit before it ended... Very Informative and Inspiring! Well Done!
