Description

The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art houses more than 7,700 works of art spanning many eras—from Roman antiquity to the present. The collection is particularly strong in American art, especially from the first half of the 20th century. There are a number of artists the Museum holds in great depth—including the world's largest collection of works of art by Grant Wood. The Museum also possesses a strong collection of Roman portrait busts donated by Tom and Nan Riley, and an extensive print collection from the 15th century forward primarily donated by Peter O. Stamats.

The collection is too comprehensive to be displayed all at once. That means chances are good that you'll see different, breathtaking pieces each time you visit!

Really enjoyed the art here!!! All the rooms had different themes and the plants in the front gave it a tropical vibe.
Great small collection representing some of Iowa and Cedar Rapids in particular artists, great gift shop. Plan between 1-3 hours to visit. Although “Winding Stream” by George Symons is not related to Iowa, it’s a great addition to the collection. Enjoy and thanks for reading!
Wonderful experience! The exhibit was absolutely amazing!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
Both my child and I enjoyed the art museum, but I would not describe it as child friendly. Most of the art is hung low enough for children to reach and is unprotected. There is nothing for children to do other than look at the art which my daughter did enjoy. That being said if you have a child that likes to look at pictures or is interested in art it is great. We brought a SketchBook and colored pencils and my child was happy to sit and draw her favorite pieces.
Cedar Rapids is so fortunate to have such a wonderful Museum of Art! Their membership is affordable and once you join you have access to museums throughout the United States. I adore the gift shop!! So many unique and one-of-a-kind finds!
Very nice, very cosy and not too big museum. Of course, I loved their Grant Wood exhibition. His "Woman with Plants" is gorgeous. Another beautiful woman is exposed on Frieseke's "Before the Window". Only these two pearls could be a reason to visit CRMA but they have much much more! They have super hospitable and helpful staff at front desk and in the shop. And I want to say spacial thank for the right way lights setup. It make your experience so more pleasant.
Company was great and the place was completely spotless. It was primarily a place dedicated towards artists from Iowa, which was cool but zero variety. I enjoy supporting art museums, but essentially a dollar a minute for something so dull, was not remotely worth the time..Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$6–10
My significant other and I decided to detour and see what Cedar Rapids could add to our adventure. Museums are amazing and full of knowledge and culture. CR Museum of Art did not disappoint. Worth checking out for sure! Photos were taken for informational purposes only,by me. Pieces belong to their respective creators and questions regarding any details of said pieces should be directed to the Museum Curators. Thank you and do yourself a favor and enjoy art in person, no photograph can substitute the experience and atmosphere... Inspiring.
Great museum. A wide variety of paintings and almost every painting has additional information about the painting and the artist. They have a lot of paintings from local artists! The museum also has a little reading area where you can read about everything art! The shop is nice also, little trinkets and interesting books and art for sale!
A great little museum giving a feel for the land around it from the artists represented. Roman busts and portraits are also on display. There is a lovely library and a wonderful shop. Plus the opportunity to buy a $5 piece of art from the Art-O-Matic dispenser.
