I've been going to the Altus BA Clinic for a few years now. The staff are very attentive people and the Medical Doctor is polite and professional. I am pleased to have only a short drive from my residence to access health care at the Clinic...!!
I've been assigned to this clinic for less than a year. I've tried to use the facility on 2 different occasions, both times they refused to see me and told me to go to urgent care. What is the purpose of this clinic? I guess they only do yearly exams.
Went here for a strangulated hernia had one before so I know what it is and the Dr checked me for an inguinal hernia. She said there was nothing wrong and next time I have any discomfort or pain to go to the ER. Altus has a terrible record of disrespecting veterans and taking advantage of the military stationed at AAFB. The locals in this city should be ashamed of themselves
If your a veteran and you like to get the run around, this is a great place to be. If, however, you expect them to respond within 24 hours like they promised, then you probably should find a different clinic. I had an appointment last Wednesday morning, they did lab work, I was told the results would be back in 24 hours, it is now the following Monday and I still have not heard a thing. I called on Friday and was told someone would return my call and they did not. Called again this morning and the nurse transferred my call to another nurse, her voicemail said she was out of the office until NEXT Monday and TO NOT leave a voicemail because it would not be checked. So, I called back, talked to the original nurse who claims the other nurse is definitely in and to leave a voicemail. Here is to hoping her voicemail gets checked better than my lab results.
The whole crew Betty, Tammy, Crystal and Dr. Perez is very respectful and understanding even when some of us can be a little moody as we go in there. I can assure you that they will do everything in their power that the VA says they can do for you and if they don't, then you probably messed up somewhere. Pro Tip respect and a smile will get far here.
Trust me i am very hard on VA employees. I am a veterans advocate who travels around the country. This is my new VA. I explained the issues I've had with many others VA's and how I get PTSD even driving by a VA. They were wonderful to me. Very understanding and displayed the desire to help me. Veterans we have to understand the difference between a clinic and a hospital. If you're in so much pain or its a medical emergency call 911 and get your rear to OKC.
This place is a joke. You dont ever see your actual doc and he wont even talk to people on the phone. They dont give you the appointments that you need. I'm in excruciating pain and they wouldn't see me wonr get me an appointment and wont even put the doc on the phone to talk to me. VETERANS BEWARE AND CHOSE A DIFFERENT LOCATION!!!!! Nurses that hang up on you when you try to talk to anyone. I should have know when I went in and got turned away for an emergency not to go back. Oh and labs... yeah good luck getting your results. After going thru the OKC clinic and finally getting someone to MAKE then give me my labs a week later they told my my levels were normal but go a head and KEEP taking my medication that could kill me if my levels were normal and I took them....
TERRIBLE!!! They will put in your records they called you when they didnt. They will put things in your records you didnt say-of course this is due to them NOT listening to you when you are talking. I have had other medical professionals at the VA in Oklahoma City and Lawton tell me that CBOC clinics are no good because their turn over rate is so high -and to get my healthcare from OKC. It IS a drive but I get mileage reimbursement for it so ....
Run around. I was told at the front window in 2017 to get a non va Dr to treat things the va want treat. Some are flu sinus infection etc. I was told. Last week 02/06/2019 forth time no va facility will treat these. Patient advocate told me other wise. Do not put up with the run around. Call okc patient advocate to report it. This is a Va medical clinic for veterans and if the receptionist gives you the run around like with me, report her. Great Dr. If you can see him
I love this place, the nurses, receptionist and lab girl have always treated me with the up most respect, I've been with Betty and Tammie and Dr Perez for a long time , I definitely recommend this place!!
